5.1 This test method is useful for distinguishing between oils that are adaptable to various types of spraying application, with a higher unsulfonated oil being required for leaf spraying as compared to dormant vegetation application.1.1 This test method covers the determination of unsulfonated residue in plant spray oils of petroleum origin and applies only to the petroleum oil content. It provides a measure of the degree of refinement of plant spray oils by determining the extent to which the oil is attacked by 98.61 % sulfuric acid under closely standardized conditions. It can be used to determine the ability of the container to resist deterioration caused by water or the ability of the container to protect the contents from water. 3.1 This test method is recommended for quality control, acceptance testing; or it may help to develop or qualify a thermal spray operator's equipment and procedure or to aid in developing thermal spray coatings with improved adhesion and integrity.3.2 This test method is useful for comparing adhesion or cohesion strengths of coatings of similar types of thermal spray materials. The test should not be considered to provide an intrinsic value for direct use in making calculations, such as to determine if a coating will withstand specific environmental stresses. Because of residual stresses in thermal spray coatings, actual strength depends upon the shape of the particular coated part. Also, in use, a coating may be stressed in a more complex manner than is practical for a standard test.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the degree of adhesion (bonding strength) of a coating to a substrate or the cohesion strength of the coating in a tension normal to the surface. The test consists of coating one face of a substrate fixture, bonding this coating to the face of a loading fixture, and subjecting this assembly of coating and fixtures to a tensile load normal to the plane of the coating. It is adapted particularly for testing coatings applied by thermal spray, which is defined to include the combustion flame, plasma arc, two-wire arc, high-velocity oxygen fuel, and detonation processes for spraying feedstock, which may be in the form of, wire, rod, or powder.NOTE 1: Thermal spray coating materials include ceramics, such as metal oxides or carbides, and metals. In some cases, a coating is formed of different spray materials, such as an oxide layer sprayed onto a sprayed metal-bonding layer. The substrate generally is a metal, but may be a ceramic, such as an oxide or graphite.1.2 Usually this test method is performed at ambient temperature. Higher temperature testing is restricted by the need for a suitable adhesive bonding agent. For certain fundamental investigations, it is suggested that very low (cryogenic) temperature be used.1.3 This test method is limited to testing thermal spray coatings that can be applied in thickness greater than 0.015 in. (0.38 mm). The limitation is imposed because an adhesive bonding agent is used in the test. Those bonding agents established so far for this method tend to penetrate thermal spray coatings and may invalidate results unless the coatings are thick enough to prevent penetration through the coating. Further development may establish that thin layers of certain types of especially dense coatings may be tested satisfactorily. 4.1 Spray buff products are utilized for the maintenance of polished floors. This practice is for the evaluation of a spray buff product against a reference product. The procedure is a floor test utilizing a rotary-disc floor machine. This practice as currently written may or may not be applicable for machines in excess of 350 R.P.M.1.1 This practice covers the comparison of the performance of spray-buff products on test floors against a reference material. Spray-buff products are to be used to maintain base floor-polish films. 4.1 Extensional viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a liquid to stretching forces, such as those occurring during the disruption of liquid films and the formation of sprays used in agriculture and other purposes including painting operations or metal working. This method for measurement of a Screen Factor, gives a relative value for extensional viscosity, which may be used:4.1.1 To compare the potential for drift control of different polymers.4.1.2 To compare the relative extensional viscosity component of different spray tank mixtures.4.1.3 To determine the extent of breakdown of polymer solutions used as drift control additives during the recirculation of the solutions through pumps and screens.4.1.4 To use as a parameter in the Spray Drift Task Force Models for droplet size prediction.4.2 It should also be noted that many drift control polymers are irreversibly destroyed during the recirculation of spray mixes by pumping with high shear pumps such as gear or centrifugal pumps. It is advisable to subject the test mixture to similar pumping regimes to simulate practical conditions before carrying out the extensional viscosity test. Measurements of extensional viscosity are the only presently known method of determining the extent of this breakdown properties of dilute polymer solutions.4.3 This method is intended to produce a relative value for extensional viscosity. The purpose of the method is to compare the extensional viscosity produced by different polymer types or concentrations of polymer in spray tank mixes.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the relative extensional viscosity or Screen Factor (SF) of dilute agricultural spray mixes.1.2 The test can be used for tank mixes containing dissolved, emulsified or dispersed materials, or mixtures.1.3 Results may be affected by the quality of the water used. Make-up water quality should therefore be specified in the presentation of results.1.4 Proper safety and hygiene precautions must be taken when working with pesticide formulations to prevent skin or eye contact, vapor inhalation, and environmental contamination. Read and follow all handling instructions for the specific formulation and conduct the test in accordance with good laboratory practice.NOTE 1: References to the development of extensional viscosity from dissolved polymers, extensional viscosity effects on the droplet size distribution of sprays, and measurements of screen factor on recirculated spray mixes containing polymers are available.2,31.5 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. This specification covers spray-formed seamless austenitic stainless steel pipe intended for high-temperature and general corrosive service. The steel shall conform to the specified chemical composition and tensile requirements. The mechanical test requirement includes, transverse or longitudinal tension test, flattening test, hydrostatic test and grain size determination are presented. One tension tests shall be made on a specimen for lots of more than 100 pipes. For material heat treated in a batch-typed furnace, flattening tests shall be made on 5% of the pipe from each heat treated lot. Each length of finished pipe shall be subjected to hydrostatic tests.1.1 This specification covers spray-formed seamless austenitic stainless steel pipe intended for high-temperature and general corrosive service.1.2 Grades TP304H, TP309H, TP309HCb, TP310H, TP310HCb, TP316H, TP321H, TP347H, and TP348H are modifications of Grades TP304, TP309Cb, TP309S, TP310Cb, TP310S, TP316, TP321, TP347, and TP348, and are intended for high-temperature service.1.3 Optional supplementary requirements are provided for pipe where a greater degree of testing is desired.
