4.1 The acidity of a chrome tanning liquor, as determined by this test method, is rarely employed as such. This result is normally combined with the results of a chromium analysis (see Test Method D3898) to determine a property of the liquor called basicity. This property, equal to the percentage by which anions in a normal chromic salt have been replaced by hydroxyl in the solution being analyzed, is closely related to the tanning behavior of the solution.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the titratable acidity of chromium tanning liquors. By titratable acidity is meant not only free acidity, which is rarely present, but also anions combined with weakly basic cations such as Chromium (III), which can be titrated with base at the phenolphthalein end point.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 This test method is suitable for research or for quality control to characterize TDI and MDI.5.2 This test method was developed to overcome problems with low-level acidity determinations that use glass electrodes in the presence of reagent alcohol solvents. Reagent alcohols contain acidic and basic species, which complicate the glass electrode methods at low levels of acidity.1.1 This test method measures the hydrolyzable chlorine content of monomeric, aromatic isocyanates used as polyurethane raw materials and expresses it as HCl acidity. The test method is applicable to toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and monomeric methylene di(phenylisocyanate), known as MDI. The main sources of hydrolyzable chlorine and, therefore, acidity in monomeric aromatic isocyanates are carbamyl chlorides, acid chlorides, and dissolved phosgene. All of these compounds react with alcohols and water to form hydrochloric acid.1.2 This test method applies only to monomeric isocyanates in which all of the acidity is derived from species that generate HCl on solvolysis.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.NOTE 1: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 This test method can be used to establish manufacturing and purchasing specifications. It can also be used to determine the condition of solvents in use.1.1 This test method covers the determination of acidity in halogenated organic solvents and admixtures thereof. The alkalinity may be determined utilizing Test Methods D2106, by substituting the end point measured at pH 7 by bromothymol blue or pH meter.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific precautionary statements are given in Section 7.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

2.1 This test method is intended for use in the determination of the acidity as free fatty acids in the absence of ammonium or triethanolamine soaps in sulfonated and sulfated oils for the purpose of quality assurance.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the acidity as free fatty acids existing in a sample of sulfonated or sulfated oil, or both, by titrating the sample dissolved in a solvent. It is not applicable in the presence of ammonium or triethanolamine soaps or salts or other compounds that do not react neutral to phenolphthalein when dissolved in alcohol.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.

5.1 This test method provides for the quantitative determination of total acidity in ethylene glycols by non-aqueous potentiometric titration. The run time for titration of ethylene glycol samples ranges from 5 to 10 min with no sample preparation required. The length of time for a titration depends on the amount of acidity in the sample and the acidity generally increases from monoethylene glycol to the higher glycols like tetraethylene glycol.5.2 Acceptable levels of acidity in ethylene glycols vary with the manufacturer’s specifications but are normally below 200 mg/kg. Knowledge of the acidity in ethylene glycols is required to establish whether the product quality meets specification requirements.1.1 This test method covers the determination of total acidity as acetic acid in commonly available grades of monoethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol and tetraethylene glycol using a non-aqueous potentiometric titration. This test method is useful for determining low levels of acidity, below 200 mg/kg.1.2 The mono-, di-, tri- and tetraethylene glycols can be analyzed directly by this test method without any sample preparation.1.3 Review the current appropriate Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for detailed information concerning toxicity, first aid procedures, and safety precautions.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific hazards statements are given in the section on Hazards, Section 9.1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

ASTM D3242-23 Standard Test Method for Acidity in Aviation Turbine Fuel Active 发布日期 :  1970-01-01 实施日期 :

5.1 Some acids can be present in aviation turbine fuels due either to the acid treatment during the refining process or to naturally occurring organic acids. Significant acid contamination is not likely to be present because of the many check tests made during the various stages of refining. However, trace amounts of acid can be present and are undesirable because of the consequent tendencies of the fuel to corrode metals that it contacts or to impair the water separation characteristics of the aviation turbine fuel.5.2 This test method is designed to measure the levels of acidity that can be present in aviation turbine fuel and is not suitable for determining significant acid contamination.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the acidity in aviation turbine fuel in the range from 0.000 mg/g to 0.100 mg/g KOH.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.
