5.1 This test method is designed to aid those interested in the engineering properties of roofing and waterproofing sheet materials and membranes.5.2 This test method enables a researcher to measure the relative flexibility of roofing and waterproofing sheet materials and membranes under standard conditions in the laboratory.5.3 The data obtained from this test method will not permit prediction of the service life of a membrane. Membrane flexibility is important during application, and changes in flexibility are believed to be linked to the performance of roofing and waterproofing membranes, but the actual link between test data and performance is unknown and is dependent on the materials and exposure.1.1 This test method measures the flexibility of roofing or waterproofing sheet materials or membranes by bending the test material over a block containing arcs of specific radii at a standard temperature.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 Flexibility is that property of a material which allows it to be deformed by bending or rolling without cracking, breaking, or other permanent defects, using whatever force is necessary to bend or roll it. Flexibility is an important characteristic of flooring in that it provides for ease of handling in rolling, cutting, and fitting.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the flexibility of resilient flooring materials by means of cylindrical mandrel apparatus. It is especially applicable to sheet goods and some tiles.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. 4.1 Organic coatings on precoated sheet are subjected to stresses when fabricated into products by roll forming, brake bending, or other deformation processes. These stresses can exceed the flexibility or adhesive strength of the coating, resulting in fracture of the coating which exposes the substrate, or in the loss of adhesion of the coating to the substrate. This test is a means of evaluating the ability of a coating system to withstand the stresses of fabrication.4.2 The bend direction, whether the axis of bend is transverse to or along the rolling direction of the metal, and the temperature of the specimen when it is bent can affect the results of this test and should be agreed upon between the supplier and the user.1.1 This test method describes a procedure for determining the flexibility and adhesion of organic coatings (paints) on metallic substrates that are deformed by bending when the sheet is fabricated into building panels or other products.1.2 The metal substrate must be capable of passing this test without fracturing and with no excessive grain development.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 This test method is not intended to simulate an actual use condition but it will give some indication of the elastomeric properties or flexibility of a building joint sealant at low temperature. It can serve to differentiate between elastomer-based sealants and sealants based on nonelastic binders that can harden or embrittle on aging and crack or lose adhesion when flexed at low temperature. In addition, it can aid in identifying sealants that have poor flexibility because they are overextended and contain a very low level of elastomeric binder as well as those sealants having binders that will embrittle at low temperature.1.1 This test method covers determination of the low-temperature flexibility and tenacity of one-part, elastomeric, solvent-release type sealants after cyclic high- and low-temperature aging.1.2 The subcommittee with jurisdiction is not aware of any similar ISO standard.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. ASTM D6905-20 Standard Practice for Impact Flexibility of Organic Coatings Active 发布日期 :  1970-01-01 实施日期 :

5.1 Coatings attached to substrates are subjected to damaging impacts during the manufacture of articles and their use in service. This impact resistance practice has been found to be useful in predicting the performance of organic coatings for their ability to resist cracking caused by impacts.1.1 This practice covers a procedure for determining the ability of a coating film and its substrate to resist shattering, cracking, or chipping when the film and substrate are distended beyond their original form by impact.1.2 This practice does not measure impact resistance but uses rapid impact to improve Test Methods D522, a test method for flexibility. Since the impact of the coating is almost instantaneous, all of the problems associated with time variables in the mandrel tests are eliminated.1.3 This practice is similar in content but not technically equivalent to Test Method D2794.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 Preformed tape sealants are tacky, deformable solids that are used under compression between two substrates in a variety of sealing applications. This procedure is not intended to simulate an actual use condition, but it will give some indication of the flexibility and adhesion of a tape at low temperature. It can serve to differentiate between flexible tapes that can take some movement and those that tend to harden or embrittle on aging and crack or lose adhesion when flexed at low temperature. It will also aid in identifying sealants that have poor flexibility because they are overextended and contain a low level of binder as well as those sealants having binders that will embrittle at low temperature.1.1 This test method covers a laboratory procedure for testing the low-temperature flexibility of preformed tape sealants.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. 5.1 The “Mandrel Bend” test is simple and fast. It requires little investment in equipment and little operator training. The prime purpose is to determine whether a hot-melt adhesive meets flexibility requirements. This test is also useful for comparing flexibility of several adhesives. It can be used to design adhesives by comparing the flexibility of various formulations to meet specific end use parameters. The adhesive flexibility can be determined at temperatures other than ambient by conditioning the test apparatus and test specimens at the desired temperature and performing the test under these temperature conditions.1.1 This practice covers the determination of the flexibility of a hot-melt adhesive in sheet form under specific test conditions. This is a working practice. Its results are useful for comparing adhesives, not for absolute characterization of adhesives.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
