This test method can be useful in understanding the response of low-sloped mechanically attached membrane roofing assemblies to air pressure differences induced across the assembly. This test method can be useful in understanding the role of different roofing components in providing resistance to air intrusion into the membrane roofing assembly. When applying the results of tests by this test method, note that the performance of a roof or its components, or both, may be a function of proper installation and adjustment. This test method subjects the roof specimen to negative static pressures, as it is difficult to simulate the complex environmental conditions that can be encountered in service, including rapidly changing pressures due to wind gusting. This test method does not purport to establish all criteria necessary for the consideration of air intrusion in the design of a roof assembly. The results are intended to be used for comparison purposes and may not represent the field installed performance of the roof assembly.1.1 This test method provides a laboratory technique for determining the air intrusion in low-sloped mechanically attached membrane roof assemblies under specified negative air pressures differences.1.2 This test method is intended to measure only air intrusion associated with the opaque roof assembly free from penetrations such as those associated with mechanical devices, roof junctions, and terminations.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

These fittings directly attach to pipe or tube by mechanical deformation of the pipe or tube or fitting, or a combination thereof, creating a seal and a restrained joint. The seal may be created via the mechanical deformation or created independently. Successful completion of the tests described constitutes completion of the technical portion of the qualification process.1.2 Supplementary requirements are provided for use when additional testing or inspection is desired. These shall apply only when specified in part or whole by the purchaser in the order. Unless otherwise specified, U.S. Navy contracts shall invoke the supplementary requirements in whole.1.3 Unless specific MAF types are specified, the term “MAF” shall apply to all types described herein.1.4 The tests specified in Section 13 and described in Annex A1 and the Supplementary Requirements Section are applicable only to ascertain the performance characteristics of MAFs. These tests are not intended for use in the evaluation of non-MAF products.1.5 A fire performance test is specified in Supplementary Requirement S7. This test provides general guidelines to determine the responsiveness of MAFs when subjected to fire. This test should not be considered for use to evaluate non-MAF products.1.6 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses after SI units are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.7 The following safety hazards caveat applies only to the tests listed in Section 13 and the tests described in the Supplementary Requirements Section and the annexes of this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.8 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 This test method is used to determine the density expressed in g/mL for powdered or fine mesh carbon. Due to the nature of the small particles, the density of these carbon types cannot be measured using the same procedure as granular carbon.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the mechanically tapped density of powdered and fine mesh activated carbon. For the purpose of this test method, “powdered carbon” is defined as having a mean particle diameter less than 45 µm, and “fine mesh carbon” is defined as having a particle size predominately between 80 and 325 U.S. Standard mesh.1.2 The values in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measure are included in this standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. This specification covers the requirements for zinc coatings that are mechanically deposited on iron or steel basis metals. The zinc coatings are classified according to thickness and identified into two types; as coated without supplementary treatments or with colored chromate conversion treatment. The thickest coating classes are usually referred to as "mechanically galvanized". All deposited coatings should have a bright uniform silvery appearance, and a matte to medium-bright luster. Samples should be tested for adhesion, salt-spray corrosion resistance, appearance, thickness, and absence of hydrogen embrittlement. All tests results should comply with the given requirements.1.1 This specification covers the requirements for a coating of zinc mechanically deposited on iron and steel basis metals. The coating is provided in several thicknesses up to and including 107 μm. The seven thickest classes are usually referred to as “mechanically galvanized.”1.2 Units—The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The inch-pound equivalents of SI units are given for informational purposes.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.NOTE 1: The performance of this coating complies with the requirements of Specification A153/A153M and MIL-C-81562.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
