Determination of sulfur is, by definition, part of the ultimate analysis of coal.Sulfur analysis results obtained by these methods are used to serve a number of interests: evaluation of coal preparation, evaluation of potential sulfur emissions from coal combustion or conversion processes, evaluation of the coal quality in relation to contract specification, and other purposes of commercial or scientific interest.1.1 These test methods cover two alternative procedures for the determination of total sulfur in samples of coal and coke. Sulfur is included in the ultimate analysis of coal and coke.1.2 The procedures appear in the following order: SectionsMethod A—Eschka Method 6-9Method B—Bomb Washing Method 10 and 111.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific precautionary statements are given in Sections 11.1.1-11.1.1.7.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard.

4.1 Accurate gas chromatographic determination of trace levels of thiophene in benzene involves special analytical problems because of the difficulties of trace level analysis. These problems arise from the low concentration levels that need to be measured, the type of column and detector needed for analysis, and the potential interference from the benzene matrix.4.2 This test method was found applicable for determining thiophene in refined benzene conforming to the specifications described in Specifications D2359, D4734, and D5871 and may be applicable toward other grades of benzene if the user has taken the necessary precautions as described in the text.4.3 This test method was developed as an alternative technique to Test Method D4735.1.1 This test method covers the determination of thiophene in refined benzene using gas chromatography and sulfur selective detection. The test method is applicable to the determination of thiophene at levels of 0.02 to 2.18 mg thiophene per kg in benzene (mg/kg) on the AED, 0.03 to 1.87 mg/kg on the PFPD, and 0.03 to 2.11 mg/kg on the SCD. The range of the test method may be extended by modifying the sample injection volume, split ratios, calibration range, or sample dilution with thiophene-free solvent.1.2 In determining the conformance of the test results using this method to applicable specifications, results shall be rounded off in accordance with the rounding-off method of Practice E29.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For specific hazard statements, see Section 7.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

3.1 Some oils are formulated with organo-metallic additives, which act, for example, as detergents, antioxidants, and antiwear agents. Some of these additives contain one or more of these elements: calcium, phosphorus, sulfur, and zinc. This test method provides a means of determining the concentrations of these elements, which in turn provides an indication of the additive content of these oils.3.2 Several additive elements and their compounds are added to the lubricating oils to give beneficial performance (Table 2).3.3 This test method is primarily intended to be used at a manufacturing location for monitoring of additive elements in lubricating oils. It can also be used in central and research laboratories.1.1 This test method covers the quantitative determination of additive elements in unused lubricating oils, as shown in Table 1.1.2 This test method is limited to the use of energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometers employing an X-ray tube for excitation in conjunction with the ability to separate the signals of adjacent elements.1.3 This test method uses interelement correction factors calculated from empirical calibration data.1.4 This test method is not suitable for the determination of magnesium and copper at the concentrations present in lubricating oils.1.5 This test method excludes lubricating oils that contain chlorine or barium as an additive element.1.6 This test method can be used by persons who are not skilled in X-ray spectrometry. It is intended to be used as a routine test method for production control analysis.1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations to use.1.8 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 This test method can be used to determine total sulfur levels in process feeds and finished products that fall within the scope of this test method.4.2 Low levels of sulfur in process feed stocks can poison expensive catalysts used in petroleum refining processes. This test method can be used to monitor sulfur levels in these feedstocks.1.1 This test method covers the determination of total sulfur in liquid hydrocarbons with a final boiling point less than 450 °C by gas chromatography using a flame photometric detector.1.2 This test method is applicable for total sulfur levels from 0.5 mg/kg S to 100 mg/kg S.NOTE 1: The pooled limit of quantification (PLOQ) derived from the 2002 interlaboratory cooperative test program was determined to be 1 mg/kg S.NOTE 2: Samples can also be tested at other total sulfur levels, but the precision statements may not apply.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For specific hazard statements see Section 7.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

ASTM D2472-15(2023) Standard Specification for Sulfur Hexafluoride Active 发布日期 :  1970-01-01 实施日期 :

This specification covers the requirements for sulfur hexafluoride intended for use as an electrical insulating gas. However, this specification applies only to gas as purchased. Tests for water content, acidity (hydrolyzable fluorides), noncondensable gas and carbon tetrafluoride content, and assay shall be performed and shall conform to the requirements specified.1.1 This specification applies to sulfur hexafluoride for use as an electrical insulating gas.NOTE 1: This specification is intended to apply only to gas as purchased. However, the test methods referred to in this standard may be useful in the evaluation of in-service or used gas. Test Method D2284 may be particularly helpful since many sulfur hexafluoride decomposition products are acidic. Test Method D2284 should not be used to evaluate the total amount of sulfur hexafluoride decomposition nor to identify contaminant species. This can only be done by gas chromatography and similar instrumental techniques.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
