5.1 This test method is applicable for testing geosynthetic cementitious composite mats in a cured state. It is used with a constant-rate-of-extension type tension apparatus.5.2 This test is an index test that may be used for manufacturing quality control (MQC). This test is appropriate for characterizing the flexural properties of a GCCM.1.1 This test method provides guidelines for testing the flexural strength of cured geosynthetic cementitious composite mat (GCCM) products in a three (3)-point bend apparatus.1.2 The values in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. Values in inch-pound units are in parentheses for information.1.3 This standard may involve hazardous operations, equipment, and climates. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This test method provides a simple means of characterizing the mechanical behavior of plastics materials using very small amounts of material. The data obtained may be used for quality control, research and development, and establishment of optimum processing conditions.Mechanical testing provides a sensitive test method for determining mechanical characteristics by measuring the modulus of elasticity.Note 2—Materials that are suspected to be too anisotropic may not be suitable for this test method. This test method can be used to assess:5.3.1 The effects of processing treatment,5.3.2 Relative resin behavioral properties, including cure,5.3.3 The effects of substrate types and orientation (fabrication) on modulus, and5.3.4 The effects of formulation additives that might affect processability or performance.1.1 This test method covers the use of controlled rate of loading mechanical instrumentation for gathering and reporting the modulus of elasticity of thermoplastic and thermosetting resins and composite systems in the form of rectangular bars molded directly or cut from sheets, plates, or molded shapes. The data generated, using three-point bending techniques, may be used to identify the thermomechanical properties of a plastics material or composition using a controlled rate of loading mechanical instrument. Results obtained from this test method may or may not be comparable to results obtained using D 790.1.2 This test method is intended to provide a means for determining the modulus of elasticity within the linear region of the stress-strain curve (see Fig 1). This test is conducted at standard temperature and pressure.1.3 Apparent discrepancies may arise in results obtained under differing experimental conditions. These apparent differences from results observed in another study can usually be reconciled, without changing the observed data, by reporting in full (as described in this test method) the conditions under which the data were obtained.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values stated in parentheses are for information only.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.Note 1—There is no similar or equivalent ISO standard.

5.1 Staples are mechanical fasteners used in wood structures. Engineering design procedures used to determine the capacities of laterally-loaded staple connections use a yield theory to establish nominal resistance (Note 2). In order to develop nominal resistance for laterally-loaded stapled connections, the bending yield moment must be known.NOTE 2: When used as a structural fastener in shear walls and diaphragms, staples are installed with the crown parallel to the long dimension of the framing member. The orientation of the staples for this bending yield moment test represents the bending yield moment applicable for this intended use).1.1 This test method covers procedures for determining the bending yield moment of staples when subjected to static loading. Although intended for flat crown staples identified in Specification F1667/F1667M, this procedure is also applicable for staples with round wire. These staples are used in engineered wood building connection applications for which required connection capacities are specified by the designer.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined.NOTE 1: This test method is applicable in either inch-pounds F3359 or SI Units [F3359M]. Values stated in SI are a mathematical conversion and are shown in brackets [ ].1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.

5.1 Determination of flexural modulus by this test method is especially useful for quality control and specification purposes.5.2 Experimental values for flexural modulus will vary with specimen depth, span length, loading rate, ambient test temperature, and other atmospheric conditions.5.3 Before proceeding with this test method, reference should be made to the specification of the material being tested, including constituent materials of the specimen. Any test specimen preparation, environmental or loading conditioning, dimensions, or testing parameters covered in the material specification, or both, shall take precedence over those mentioned in this test method. If there are no material specifications, then these default conditions apply. Table 1 in Classification D4000 lists the ASTM materials standards that currently exist.1.1 This test method covers the determination of Flexural Modulus of pultruded open and closed fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites of doubly symmetrical cross sections (sections having geometric symmetry about both the major and minor axes) about their geometric centroid subjected to flexure and shear. This test method utilizes a three-point loading system applied to a simply supported beam.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values provided in parentheses are for information only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.NOTE 1: The is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
