5.1 It is possible for plasticizers to become less compatible in poly(vinyl chloride) resin when fused compound is subjected to compressive stress.5.1.1 This test subjects a standard test specimen to a definite deformation and allows qualitative determination of the amount of spew that is capable of occurring over a period of time.5.1.2 An apparent decrease in compatibility of plasticizers with subsequent exudation can cause excessive dirt pickup, marring of lacquered or varnished surfaces, sticky feel, and a number of other associated problems.5.1.3 When a plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) sheet is stressed in compression by bending it through 180°, one way to relieve the stress is by migration of the plasticizer from the compressed area (inside of bend) to the area in tension (outside of bend). If these compressive stresses cannot be relieved rapidly by internal migration of plasticizer, then plasticizer will spew. The internal migration of plasticizer will continue and when a deficiency of plasticizer occurs at the compressed area spewed plasticizer will be reabsorbed. It is possible for certain plasticizers to spew and be reabsorbed quite rapidly. Less compatible plasticizers are capable of spewing early and continuing to spew throughout the test. A test of one week's duration is used for screening, while an extended test of seven weeks' duration is used for a complete profile.NOTE 3: It is permissible for the seller and the purchaser to agree upon other test conditions of time, temperature, or relative humidity.1.1 This practice determines the compatibility of plasticizers in poly(vinyl chloride) plastics by rating the amount of plasticizer that spews due to compressional stress set up inside a 180° loop bend.NOTE 1: Ingredients other than plasticizer can spew from a total formulation.1.2 The text of this practice references notes and footnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of this practice.1.3 The values as stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values in parentheses are given for information only.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.NOTE 2: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 Reference this chemical resistance classification for any PVC/CPVC material compound specification wherein a level of resistance to specific chemicals is required for satisfactory product performance.4.2 Listing of a chemical in the annex does not imply PVC/CPVC compatibility or resistance to the chemical. Some of the chemicals listed could be deleterious to a specific compound, causing radical changes in the physical properties. Resistance to these chemicals is not intended to be a practical requirement in a specification.4.3 For resistance to mixtures of chemicals, it is suggested that the blend be tested rather than accepting the resistance of the individual chemicals because of a possible solvency enhancement of the combined chemicals.4.4 The specimens tested in this classification are unstressed. When service conditions include stress or other factors, or both, test chemical resistance of the PVC/CPVC compound under actual service conditions.1.1 This classification covers the method for determining and classifying the resistance of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) homopolymer and copolymer compounds, and chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) (CPVC) compounds in chemicals by simple immersion testing of unstressed specimens.1.2 This classification is applicable to any PVC or CPVC compound as defined in Specifications D1784, D4216, D4396, or D4551.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.1.4 The text of this standard references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of this standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.NOTE 1: There are no ISO standards covering the subject matter of this classification.1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 This practice is for use by designers and specifiers, regulatory agencies, owners, and inspection organizations who are involved in the rehabilitation of non-pressure sewers and conduits. Modifications may be required for specific job conditions.1.1 This practice describes the procedures for the rehabilitation of sewer lines and conduits for existing pipelines 6 to 180 in. in diameter by the insertion of a machine-made field-fabricated spiral wound liner pipe into the existing pipeline using a winding machine which remains stationary in the insertion pit or, alternatively, which travels along the interior of the existing pipeline. These rehabilitation processes can be used in a variety of gravity applications such as sanitary sewers, storm sewers, culverts, and process piping.1.1.1 When using stationary installation equipment for existing pipelines 6 to 48 in., after insertion, the spiral wound liner pipe is expanded until it presses against the interior surface of the existing pipeline. Alternatively, for existing pipelines 6 to 108 in. in diameter, the spiral wound liner pipe is inserted as a fixed diameter into the existing pipeline and is not expanded, and the annular space between the spiral wound liner pipe and the existing pipe is grouted.1.1.2 When using the traveling installation equipment for existing pipelines 6 to 180 in. the spiral wound liner pipe is installed in contact with the interior surface of the existing pipeline to form a close fit liner, except in the corners of rectangular pipes or where obstructions or offsets occur. Alternatively, for existing pipelines 6 to 180 in. in diameter and for similar sized existing non circular pipelines such as arched or oval or rectangular shapes, the spiral wound liner is installed as a fixed diameter into the exiting pipeline to form a non-close fit liner and the annular space between the spiral wound liner pipe and the existing pipe is grouted.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.3.1 Particular attention is drawn to those safety regulations and requirements involving entering into and working in confined spaces.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
