The electrical properties of resin-coated glass fabrics are affected by their temperature and moisture content. For this reason it is necessary to control these properties for a specified time immediately prior to testing in order to attain reasonably good reproducibility of test values. The time of exposure to the conditioning atmosphere must be long enough to permit the test specimen to reach a relatively stable value. Usually the moisture content of these materials has little effect on the mechanical properties.1.1 These test methods cover procedures for the testing of resin-coated glass fabrics and glass fabric tapes (Note 1) to be used as electrical insulation.Note 1—Methods of testing varnished cloths and tapes are given in Methods D295.1.2 The warp threads in fabrics are the threads that are parallel with the length dimension as manufactured.1.3 The procedures appear as follows:Procedure Section ASTM TestMethod ReferenceBreaking Strength 22-28 D828Conditioning 6-8 ...Dielectric Breakdown Voltage and Di-electric Strength 29-38 D149, D295Dissipation Factor and Relative Permit-tivity 52-60 D150, E104, D5032Effect of Elevated Temperature 39-45 D1830Resistance to Oil 46-51 D3487Sampling 3-5 ...Thermal Endurance 68 D1830Thickness 16-21 D374Thread Count 12-15 ...Weight 9-11 ...Weight Loss at Elevated Temperature 61-67 D54231.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. 5.1 This test method is considered satisfactory for quality control testing.5.2 If there are differences of practical significance between reported test results for two laboratories, comparative tests should be performed to determine if there is a statistical bias between them, using competent statistical assistance. As a minimum, use test samples as homogeneous as possible, drawn from the material from which the disparate test results were obtained, and randomly assigned in equal number to each laboratory for testing. The test results from the two laboratories should be compared using a statistical test for unpaired data, at a probability level chosen prior to the testing series. If a bias is found, either its cause must be found and corrected, or future results for the source material must be adjusted in consideration of the known bias.5.3 The stiffness of fabric relates to its resistance to bending with further processing and use. It measures the fiber and yarn bending capabilities, the cohesion of individual fibers and yarns relative to their displacement and binders or finishes that hold them in place.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the stiffness of fabrics by measuring the force required to push a specimen into a slot of predetermined width with a metal blade working at a predetermined capacity.NOTE 1: For other methods for testing stiffness, refer to Test Methods D1388, D4032, and D5732.1.2 This test method is applicable to fabrics of any fiber content whose stiffness does not exceed the capacity of the Penetrator Beam apparatus. Specimens can be taken from fabrics, rolls, or end products.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses after SI units are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. ASTM D4685/D4685M-15(2020) Standard Test Method for Pile Fabric Abrasion Active 发布日期 :  1970-01-01 实施日期 :

5.1 This test method is considered satisfactory for quality control testing and commercial shipment acceptance.5.1.1 In case of a dispute arising from differences in reported test results when using this test method, the purchaser and the supplier should conduct comparative tests to determine if there is a statistical bias between their laboratories. Competent statistical assistance is recommended for the investigation of bias. As a minimum, the two parties should take test specimens that are from the lot of material of the type in question. The test specimens should then be randomly assigned in equal numbers to each laboratory for testing. The average results from the two laboratories should be compared using student's t-test for unpaired data and an acceptable probability level chosen by the two parties before the testing is begun. If a bias is found, either its cause must be found and corrected or the purchaser and the supplier must agree to interpret future test results in the light of the known bias.5.2 Finishes and changes in fabric surfaces may exert a large effect on pile retention of corduroy. Therefore, it may be desirable to test before as well as after laundering or drycleaning, or both.5.3 The separate testing of specimens on the face and back of the fabric is important in this test method since the pile pull-out may be due to abrasive action on either the face or back. With many pile fabrics, specifically corduroy constructions, pile retention properties are worse when abraded on the back.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the abrasion of pile fabrics when the loss of pile tuffs occur, sometimes called pile retention or pile pull out. It includes two procedures:1.1.1 Procedure A—The “Heavy Duty” procedure describes the test option for fabrics over 240 g/m2 (7 oz/yd2) or fabrics which should meet heavy duty end-use conditions of wear.1.1.2 Procedure B—The “Light Duty” procedure describes the test option for fabrics under 240 g/m2 (7 oz/yd2) or fabrics which should meet light duty end-use conditions of wear.1.2 The test method is intended for both regular, ribless woven corduroy or other woven pile fabric constructions.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 This test method is considered satisfactory for acceptance testing of commerical shipments since the method has been used extensively in the trade for acceptance testing.5.1.1 In cases of a dispute arising from differences in reported test results when using this test method for acceptance testing of commercial shipments, the purchaser and the supplier should conduct comparative tests to determine if there is a statistical bias between their laboratories. Competent statistical assistance is recommended for the investigation of bias. As a minimum, the two parties should take a group of test specimens which are as homogeneous as possible and which are from a lot of material of the type in question. The test specimens should then be randomly assigned in equal numbers to each laboratory for testing. The average results from the two laboratories should be compared using Student's t-test for unpaired data and an acceptable probability level chosen by the two parties before the testing begins. If a bias is found, either its cause must be found and corrected or the purchaser and the supplier must agree to interpret future test results in the light of the known bias.5.2 Vinyl-coated glass yarn insect screening and louver cloth are subjected to a heating process to fuse the warp yarns to the filling yarns of the woven structure. The force at which yarns in one direction move over yarns in the opposite direction is a measure of the bond of fusion. The degree of the bond of fusion on the vinyl-coated glass yarn insect screening and louver cloth is used for process control. Fabric stability was formerly called resistance to yarn slippage.1.1 This test method provides a procedure for evaluating fabric stability by measuring the resistance to yarn slippage of filling yarns over warp yarns, or warp yarns over filling yarns in vinyl-coated glass yarn insect screening and louver cloth.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

5.1 These test methods may be used for acceptance testing of commercial shipments; however, caution is advised because information about between interlaboratory precision is incomplete. Comparative tests as directed in 5.1.1 may be advisable.5.1.1 If there are differences of practical significance between reported test results for two laboratories (or more), comparative tests should be performed to determine if there is statistical bias between them using competent statistical assistance. As a minimum, use test samples for such comparative tests that are as homogeneous as possible, drawn from the same lot of material as the samples that resulted in the disparate results during initial testing, and that are randomly assigned in equal numbers to each laboratory for testing. The test results from the laboratories should be compared using statistical test for unpaired data at a probability level chosen prior to the testing series. If a bias is found either its cause must be found and corrected, or future test results for that material must be adjusted in consideration of the known bias.5.2 These test methods are useful to evaluate quality and cost control during the manufacture of pile yarn floor covering.5.3 The significance and uses of particular properties and test methods are discussed in the appropriate sections of the specified test methods.1.1 This guide covers the procedures listed as follows for testing woven, knitted and nonwoven backing fabrics designed for use in the manufacture of pile yarn floor coverings.
