5.1 This practice is based on the use of electrical resistance as an indicator of contact performance. This is the fundamental physical attribute that reflects the condition of the electrical contact interface(s) within a connection. For practical current-carrying electrical connections, resistance may be calculated from potential drop measurements, as described, for example, in Test Method B539 and B812.5.2 This practice accommodates the use of multiple test methods, as may be required to predict performance in a given application.5.3 This practice applies only to the performance of the current-carrying contact interface(s). It does not characterize the performance of insulating materials or other components of a complete connection system.5.4 Specifiers may use the performance classification as a requirement for a given application.5.5 Manufacturers may use the performance classification to reflect the relative quality of their products.1.1 This practice provides a method of specifying performance requirements for (or reporting test results of) electrical contact and connection systems. Both conductor and connector system performance may be specified by this practice, separately or in combination.1.2 This practice may be used for separable or permanent contacts employing metallic conducting components.1.3 This practice is applicable to both signal and power applications.1.4 This practice is intended to be used for specifying performance of connectors and connection systems that are marketed for general public and trade application, as for instance for use in building wiring, electronics, and vehicles.1.5 This practice is not intended to be used to specifying the performance of connection systems for specialized applications, such as military, industrial, aircraft, power distribution, and medical apparatus.1.6 This practice does not specify the sample preparation or test sequences required for determining contact performance. It is the responsibility of the user of this practice to determine the applied test sequence(s) appropriate for the application.1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to become familiar with all hazards including those identified in the appropriate Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for this product/material as provide by the manufacturer, to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.8 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This specification covers the minimum performance and material requirements for a three piece tee connector for connection between plastic pipe and insitu pipes, manholes and wastewater structures in sanitary and storm sewer applications. The three piece seal system consists of a 4 through 30-in. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) hub pipe, an elastomeric seal (gasket) and a mechanical band. The system is installed in either a bored or cast hole opening in the host pipe or structure to a specific dimension that corresponds to the combined diameter of the PVC pipe outside diameter/tolerance and the elastomeric seal thickness. These tee connectors are designed to provide a non-pressure (gravity flow) watertight connection between the incoming pipe and an insitu pipe or manhole/structure to the limits defined in this standard. This specification deals with materials and manufacture, principles of design, basis of acceptance, test methods and requirements, rejection and rehearing, certification, markings, quality assurance, and packaging and package marking.1.1 This specification covers the minimum performance and material requirements for a three piece tee connector for connection between plastic pipe and insitu pipes, manholes and wastewater structures in sanitary and storm sewer applications.1.1.1 The three piece seal system consists of a 4 through 30-in. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) hub pipe, an elastomeric seal (gasket) and a mechanical band (Fig. 1). The system is installed in either a bored or cast hole opening in the host pipe or structure to a specific dimension that corresponds to the combined diameter of the PVC pipe outside diameter/tolerance and the elastomeric seal thickness.FIG. 1 Three-Piece Sealing System (Connector)1.2 These tee connectors are designed to provide a non-pressure (gravity flow) watertight connection between the incoming pipe and an insitu pipe or manhole/structure to the limits defined in this standard.NOTE 1: Connections covered by this specification are adequate for laboratory hydrostatic pressures up to 13 psi (30 ft of head) without leakage when tested in accordance with the provisions of this standard. Infiltration or exfiltration quantities for an installed system are dependent upon many factors other than the connections between incoming pipe and the insitu pipe or manhole structure, and allowable quantities may need to be covered by other specifications and suitable testing of the installed pipeline and system. Where connections are made to concrete manhole sections refer to Specification C923.NOTE 2: These connectors are not resilient connectors, and as such, allow for only a limited amount of lateral movement due to the tight compression seal between the PVC hub and insitu pipe/structure. Since these connectors are not rigid fittings, a significant amount of axial movement can be accommodated, but the degree of intrusion into the host pipe/structure must be regulated to minimize the impact on flow characteristics or hydraulic design conditions.1.3  The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test methods portion, Section 7, of this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For a specific precaution statement, see Section 7.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 This practice is based on the use of electrical resistance as an indicator of contact performance.5.2 Existing standards, such as those referenced in Section 2 as representative examples, provide the basis for applied test conditions. Modifications in procedure or sample size, or both, of existing standards may have to be made to provide for resistance measurement and to meet variability index requirements that a user may specify.5.3 This practice accommodates the use of multiple test methods, as may be required to assure satisfactory performance in a given application.1.1 This practice provides a uniform method of specifying performance requirements for (or reporting test results of) electrical contact and connection systems. Both conductor and connector system performance may be specified by this practice, separately or in combination.1.2 This practice may be used for separable or permanent contacts employing metallic conductors and contacts.1.3 This practice provides methods for both signal and power applications.1.4 This practice does not specify the sample preparation or test sequences required for determining contact performance. It is the responsibility of the user of this practice to determine the applied test sequence(s) appropriate for the application.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to become familiar with all hazards including those identified in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product/material as provided by the manufacturer, to establish appropriate safety and health practices, and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

4.1 This practice is for use by designers and specifiers, regulatory agencies, owners, and inspection organizations who are involved in the rehabilitation of sewer service laterals and its connection to the main through the use of a resin-impregnated tube installed within an existing sewer lateral. As for any practice, modifications may be required for specific job conditions.1.1 This practice covers requirements and test methods for the reconstruction of a sewer service lateral pipe having an inner diameter of 3 to 12 in. (7.6 to 30.5 cm) and its connection to the main pipe having an inner diameter of 6 to 24 in. (15.2 to 61.0 cm) and up the lateral a maximum of 150 ft (46 m) without excavation. The lateral pipe is accessed remotely from the main pipe and from a lateral access point. This will be accomplished by the installation of a resin impregnated one-piece main and lateral cured-in-place lining (MLCIPL) by means of air inflation and inversion. The MLCIPL is pressed against the host pipe by pressurizing a bladder and is held in place until the thermoset resins have cured. When cured, the MLCIPL shall be a continuous, one piece, tight fitting, corrosion resistant lining extending over a predetermined length of the lateral pipe and the adjacent section of the main pipe, providing a verifiable non-leaking structural connection and seal.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.3 There is no similar or equivalent ISO Standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 The general design geometry herein defined applies to both a separate adaptor accessory mating two booms of different geometry as well as boom end connectors (see Terminology F818).5.2 Interconnectibility is intended to facilitate mating of oil spill response booms of various sizes, strengths, design, and manufacture.5.3 The use of this general design geometry in no way guarantees the effective performance of the linked boom sections, since each boom's design and the environmental conditions at each incident govern overall performance.AbstractThis specification covers design criteria requirements, design geometry, material characteristics, and desirable features for oil spill response boom connections. These criteria are intended to define minimum mating characteristics and are not intended to be restrictive to a specific configuration. Any material is acceptable for construction of the boom connector provided consideration is given to such factors as weight, mechanical strength, chemical resistance, flexibility, and conditions of the environment in which it is to be used. End connector and cross pin materials shall be corrosion resistant in sea water and such other environments as the intended service may require. If dissimilar metals are used, care shall be used in design to avoid galvanic corrosion. The minimum tensile strength of a boom-to-boom connection shall equal or exceed the minimum fabric tensile strength specified. When the connector is designed as an integral part of the boom, it shall ensure distribution or transfer of the tension member loads from one boom section to the next through or around the end connector in such a manner that the integrity of the joint is not broken. The connector shall be of the hook engagement design. The geometry of single hook engagement end connectors shall be compatible with the requirements specified. Desirable features of the connector design include the following: speed and ease of connection, light weight, connectable in the water, readily cleaned of sand and debris, inherently safe to personnel, and easy to install or replace.1.1 This specification covers design criteria requirements, design geometry, material characteristics, and desirable features for oil spill response boom connections. These criteria are intended to define minimum mating characteristics and are not intended to be restrictive to a specific configuration.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. 4.1 This practice can be used to describe the effects of materials, manufacturing, and design variables on the fatigue performance of metallic femoral hip prostheses subject to cyclic loading for large numbers of cycles.4.2 The loading of femoral hip designs in vivo will, in general, differ from the loading defined in this practice. The results obtained here cannot be used to directly predict in vivo performance. However, this practice is designed to allow for comparisons between the fatigue performance of different metallic femoral hip designs when tested under similar conditions.4.3 In order for fatigue data on femoral hip prostheses to be comparable, reproducible, and capable of being correlated among laboratories, it is essential that uniform procedures be established.1.1 This practice covers a procedure for the fatigue testing of metallic femoral hip prostheses used in hip joint replacements. This practice covers the procedures for the performance of fatigue tests on metallic femoral hip stems using a cyclic, constant-amplitude force. It applies to hip prostheses that utilize proximal metaphyseal fixation and are of a modular construct, and it is intended to evaluate the fatigue performance of the modular connections in the metaphyseal filling (that is, proximal body) region of the stem.1.2 This practice is intended to provide useful, consistent, and reproducible information about the fatigue performance of metallic hip prostheses while held in a proximally fixated manner, with the distal end not held by a potting medium.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
