This standard specifies a method for the determination of primary biodegradability of surfactants.
This standard is applicable to determining the biodegradability of anionic surfactants with sulphate or sulphonate group; surfactants characterized by single polyoxyethylen chain with ethylene oxide (EO) number ranging from 3 to 40,or those with multiple polyoxyethylene (di-,tri-,quad-) chains with total EO number ranging from 6 to 60; alkylpolyglycosides; cationic and amphoteric surfactants; fatty acid surfactants and surfactants capable of either producing rich foam or effectively reducing water surface tension.This standard is also applicable to determining the biodegradability of above surfactants in detergents.

本标准适用于脂肪族和脂环族的聚烷氧基化合物的羟值(伯脂肪醇,烷基酚和脂肪酸的环氧乙烷、环氧丙烷及其混合物的加成物的羟值)的测定,适用于羟值在10~1 000的测定。
邻苯二甲酸酐法适用于伯仲脂肪醇、烷基酚和脂肪酸的环氧乙烷、环氧丙烷及其混合物的加成物羟值的测定。
乙酐法适用于伯仲脂肪醇、烷基酚和脂肪酸的环氧乙烷加成物的羟值的测定,不适用于丙氧基化产品的羟值的测定。
近红外法适用于能采用邻苯二甲酸酐法或乙酐法测定羟值的非离子表面活性剂。
产生干扰的物质如下:
——伯和仲胺、酰胺、叔醇、硫醇和环氧化物产生副反应而影响方法的准确度。
——长碳链脂肪族酸和酯会产生比邻苯二甲酸酐乙酐更稳定的酐,而其在测定终了时也不能完全被分解。
——其他的游离酸因与氢氧化钠标准溶液反应而有干扰,碱包括某种叔胺因与生成的邻苯二甲酸、乙酸反应而产生干扰。
环氧化物的存在对测定有干扰,若能用低温真空蒸馏法予以除去,并且不改变羟值,本方法仍适用。上述的处理可以消除浓度(质量分数)高于0.5%产生干扰的游离环氧乙烷。
试样中存在的水分会与邻苯二甲酸酐、乙酐反应,但若遵循测定步骤中所述的措施去预防,本方法仍可适用。
