This specification establishes the requirements brass plates, sheets, strips, and rolled bars made from UNS C21000, C22000, C22600, C23000, C24000, C26000, C26800, C27200, or C28000. Plates are generally available only in the hot-rolled temper. The standard tempers of as hot rolled, rolled, annealed, and annealed-to-temper materials are detailed in this specification as well as in other specifications listed herein. This specification also contains information on the required tensile strengths, Rockwell hardness and grain sizes of the materials. This specification establishes requirements for brass rod (round, hexagonal, and octagonal), bar (rectangular and square), and shapes of UNS Alloys C21000, C22000, C23000, C24000, C26000, C26800, C27000, and C27400. The material shall be made from cast billets, logs, or rods of copper alloy, as determined by chemical analysis. The products shall be manufactured by such hot working, cold working, and annealing processing as to produce a uniform wrought structure. The material shall conform to the chemical compositional requirements prescribed for copper, lead, iron, and zinc. The standard tempers, either hard or soft anneal (namely: O60, H01, H02, and H04), for rod and bar are specified. Tensile requirements to which the product shall conform includes tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation. This specification establishes the requirements for brass strips in narrow widths and light gages produced from Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C23000, C26000, and C26130 to be used in heat exchanger tubing. The material for manufacture shall be a cast bar, cake, or slab of such purity and soundness as to be suitable for processing by hot working, cold working, and annealing to produce a uniform wrought structure in the finished product. Products shall be produced in tempers H01 (¼ hard), H02 (½ hard), O81 (annealed-to-temper, ¼ hard), and O82 (annealed-to-temper, ½ hard). Products shall be sampled and prepared, then tested accordingly to examine their conformance to dimensional (mass, thickness, width, and straightness), mechanical (tensile and yield strengths, and elongation), chemical composition, and grain size requirements.1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for brass strip in narrow widths and light gages produced from Copper Alloys Nos.
