This specification covers metal insert fittings with split ring and compression nut (compression joint) and metal insert fittings with copper crimp rings (crimp joint) for four sizes of composite pressure pipe. These fittings are intended for use in cold- and hot-water distribution systems operating at a certain temperature range. These fittings are intended for use in potable water distribution systems for residential and commercial applications, water service, underground irrigation systems, and radient panel heating systems, baseboard, snow- and ice-melt systems, and gases that are compatible with the composite pipe and fittings. The fittings are classified into two classes with split ring and compression nut and fittings with a copper crimp ring, suitable for use with four sizes of PEX/AL/PEX or PE/AL/PE pipe. The fittings shall be made from one of the following metals: wrought copper, cast copper alloy, machined brass, and forged brass. Different tests shall be conducted in order to determine the following properties: hydrostatic burst, hydrostatic sustained pressure strength, thermocycling, and excessive temperature and pressure capability. The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth and free of foreign material. The fitting walls shall be free of cracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions or other defects that are visible to the naked eye and that affect the wall integrity.1.1 This specification covers metal insert fittings with split ring and compression nut (compression joint) and metal insert fittings with copper crimp rings (crimp joint) for four sizes of composite pressure pipe. This specification covers electrofusion-type polyethylene fittings for outside diameter controlled polyethylene pipe and tubing. Specimens shall be conditioned prior to joining at the minimum or maximum pipe temperature allowable for fusion. 1.1 This specification covers a coextruded polyethylene composite pressure pipe with a welded aluminum tube reinforcement between the inner and outer layers. The inner and outer polyethylene layers are bonded to the aluminum tube by a melt adhesive. This specification covers the classification of polyethylene film and sheeting. Recycled polyethylene film or resin may be used as feedstock, and the film or sheeting may contain additives for surface property improvement, pigments, or stabilizers, or a combination of these, but they must conform to the requirements specified. Material covered in this specification shall be designated by a five-digit type number, with each numeral (from 0 to 5) indicating the cell limit within which the values of the density, impact strength, kinetic coefficient of friction, haze, and nominal thickness of the material falls under. The sheet or film shall be manufactured free, as commercially possible, of gels, streaks, pinholes, particles of foreign matter, and undispersed raw material, and without any other visible defects such as holes, tears, or blisters. The edges of the sheet or film shall be free of nicks and cuts. The surface of the sheet or film may also be treated by flame, corona discharge, or other means to improve the surface properties. Tests to determine the density, impact strength, kinetic coefficient of friction, haze, and nominal thickness of the material shall be performed and shall conform to the requirements specified.1.1 This specification covers the classification of polyethylene film up to 0.254 mm (0.010 in.) in thickness, inclusive.
