5.1 Many sealants have been observed to dimensionally change following a period of compression or tension, such as occurs during exposure in accordance with Practice C1589. It has been shown that for some sealants, increasing exposure to weathering increases the time required for dimensional stability and decreases the magnitude of dimensional change. Dimensional stability and knowledge of the stable sealant dimensions are critical to the accurate measurement of the sealant’s modulus by a test such as Test Method C1735.5.2 This practice will find application in improving the accuracy of the modulus determined by a standard such as Test Method C1735 by using the accurate dimensions determined by this practice after stability is attained.1.1 This practice covers a procedure for measuring and monitoring the physical dimensions of an elastomeric joint sealant in a test specimen configuration described in Test Method C719 following a period of compression or tension. These sealant materials are typically highly filled elastic materials. The dimensional change of these sealant materials is determined by measuring the dimensions at specific intervals over a period of time.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses after SI units are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 Density measurements of preformed pipe insulation are useful in determining compliance of a product with specification limits and in providing a relative gage of product weights. For any one kind of insulation some important physical and mechanical properties, such as thermal conductivity, heat capacity, strength, etc., bear a specific relationship with its density; however, on a density basis, these properties are not directly comparable with those for other kinds of material.5.2 The physical dimensions of preformed pipe insulation are important quantities not only for determining the density of the pipe insulation but also for determining the conformance to specifications. The use of multilayer insulations is common, and the dimensions are necessary to ensure proper nesting of the layers.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the dimensions and density, after conditioning, of preformed pipe insulation.1.1.1 Procedure A is applicable to sections of one-piece pipe covering or to sections of segmental pipe covering that can be joined together concentrically and measured as one-piece.1.1.2 Procedure B is applicable to segmental pipe covering where each section of material is measured.1.1.3 Procedure C is applicable to sections of one-piece pipe covering, such as soft foam or mineral wool materials, where it is possible to penetrate the material.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.

4.1 This test method provides a means of determining whether a lot of tile meets specifications of variations in size and thickness. In specifications, the nominal size always refers to the minor facial dimension and the nominal thickness of a tile always refers to the major thickness.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the facial dimensions and thickness of flat, rectangular ceramic wall and floor tile. This test method covers tile as defined in Terminology C242.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. 4.1 This practice provides for determining the physical dimensions of fiberglass pipe and fittings. This practice is suitable for determination of dimensional compliance with product specifications.1.1 This practice covers the determination of outside diameter, inside diameter, total wall thickness, reinforced wall thickness, liner thickness (where applicable), and length dimensions of “fiberglass” (glass-fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin) pipe. Included are procedures for measuring tapered dimensions and taper angles for pipe intended to be joined by tapered socket fittings, and procedures for gaging internal and external threads.1.2 This practice also includes procedures for determining dimensions for fiberglass pipe fittings.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The SI units given in parentheses are for information only.NOTE 1: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
