4.1 This guide describes standard approaches used to formulate air sampling strategies before actual air sampling occurs.4.2 For most workplace air sampling purposes, and for the majority of materials sampled, air sampling strategies are matters of choice. Air sampling in the workplace may be done for single or multiple purposes, such as health impact, hazard or risk assessment, compliance assessment, or investigation of complaints. Problems can arise when a single air sampling strategy is expected to satisfy multiple diverse purposes.4.2.1 Proper consideration of limitations of cost, space, power requirements, equipment, analytical methods, training and personnel result in a best available strategy for each purpose.4.2.2 A strategy designed to satisfy multiple purposes must be a compromise among several alternatives, and will not be optimum for any one purpose; however, the strategy should be appropriate for the intended purpose(s).4.2.3 The purpose or purposes for sampling should be explicitly stated before a sampling strategy is selected in order to ensure that the sampling strategy is appropriate for the intended use. Good sampling practice, legal requirements, cost of the sampling program, and the utility of the results may be markedly different for different intended sampling purposes.4.3 This guide is intended for use by those who are preparing to evaluate air quality in a work environment of a location by air sampling, or who wish to obtain an understanding of what information can be obtained by carrying out air sampling.4.4 This guide should not be used as a stand-alone document to evaluate any given airborne contaminant(s).4.5 This guide cannot take the place of sound professional judgment in development and execution of any sampling strategy. In most instances, a strategy based on a standard practice or method will need to be adjusted due to conditions encountered in the field. Documentation of any professional judgments applied to development or execution of a sampling strategy is essential.1.1 This guide describes criteria to be used in defining air sampling strategies for workplace health and safety monitoring or evaluation. Sampling criteria such as duration, frequency, number, location, method, equipment, and timing are all considered.1.2 Where air sampling is prescribed by law or regulation, this guide is not intended to take the place of any requirements that may be specified in such law or regulation.1.3 Guidance for surface sampling strategies for metals and metalloids is provided in Guide D7659.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

ASTM F1897-20 Standard Specification for Leg Protection for Chain Saw Users Active 发布日期 :  1970-01-01 实施日期 :

This specification prescribes the minimum requirements for the design, performance, testing, and certification of protective garments and protective devices that, when worn by operators of power chain saws, shall provide cut resistance protection to their legs, and thereby reducing leg injuries caused by close contact with the running chain saw. The protective garments and devices shall be constructed with suitable fit and flexibility so as to provide sufficient leg comfort and normal maneuverability to perform intended tasks, while maintaining satisfactory functionality and efficacy for the duration of its regular use throughout seasonal climatic variations. Completed garments shall be inspected and certified as specified, and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.1.1 This specification specifies minimum requirements for the design, performance, testing, and certification of protective clothing and protective devices designed to provide cut resistance protection to the legs of operators of power chain saws.1.2 The objective of this specification is to prescribe fit, function, and performance criteria for protective clothing and protective devices that, when worn by chain saw operators, are intended to reduce the severity of leg injuries caused by contact with a running power saw chain.1.3 This standard is not intended to serve as a detailed manufacturing or purchasing specification, but can be referenced in purchase contracts to ensure that minimum performance requirements are met.1.4 Controlled laboratory tests used to determine compliance with the performance requirements of this standard shall not be deemed as establishing performance levels for all situations to which chain saw operators may be exposed.1.5 Mandatory requirements are indicated by the use of “shall”; recommendations and advisory information is indicated by use of “should.”1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 This test method is designed to provide a standardized procedure to ensure comparable results between manufacturers, testing laboratories, and users.5.2 This test method attempts to realistically quantify the radiation protection provided by radiation protective garments under real-world conditions for workers primarily exposed to scattered radiation in medical fluoroscopy work.5.3 This test method is designed to simulate exposure conditions to radiation scattered from the body of the patient undergoing fluoroscopy through an angle of 90° from the primary X-ray beam.5.4 The test method is designed to include contributions of radiation dose to the wearer from secondary radiation emitted from the shielding material.1.1 This test method establishes a procedure for measuring the relative reduction in the intensity of X-radiation provided by shielding garments to the human user under conditions simulating actual use.1.2 This test method provides a condition simulating X-rays generated between 60 and 130 kV that are scattered through an angle of 90° by a water equivalent material.1.3 This test method applies to both leaded and no-leaded radiation protective materials.1.4 This test method provides a method for inclusion of secondary radiations generated within the protective material into a more realistic evaluation of radiation protection.1.5 The values given in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Some specific hazards statements are given in Section 7.1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 Engines operating under severe conditions involving high temperatures, hot spot areas, entrained air, or small cooling systems, or combinations thereof, are placing greater emphasis on engine coolant oxidation stability and corrosion protection. This test method provides an accelerated test method to assess engine coolant performance under high temperature oxidizing test conditions of new, used, or recycled engine coolants, or combinations thereof. The test method may also serve as a screening tool to determine oxidation stability. The test results of this method cannot stand alone as evidence of satisfactory oxidation stability and corrosion protection. The actual service of an engine coolant formulation can be determined only by more comprehensive bench, dynamometer, and field tests.1.1 This test method covers determination of engine coolant corrosion protection and stability under accelerated thermal and oxidizing conditions using a rotary pressure vessel.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses after SI units are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific hazard statements are given in 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, 6.10, 11.1, 12.8, 12.9, and 12.10.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
