The terms and definitions in the standard are intended to encompass the products within the scope of the IEEE C37 list of power switchgear standards for high-voltage circuit breakers (above 1000 Vac and 3200 Vdc) and for reclosers and other distribution equipment (above 1000 Vac to 38,000 Vac) as used primarily in connection with generation, transmission, distribution, and conversion of electric power. For terms not defined within this standard, the definitions within IEEE Std C37.20.10 apply.
This standard provides requirements for low-voltage (600 V ac and below) definite-purpose switching (LV-DPS) devices (other than power circuit breakers) for use in metal-enclosed low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear described in IEEE Std C37.20.1(TM). These switching devices may be used in motor control or other repetitive duty applications and have the following characteristics: a) Drawout type, three-pole construction; b) Integral current-limiting fuses for short-circuit protection; c)… read more Power operated, with integral or separately mounted overcurrent protective devices; In this standard, the term "LV-DPS device" denotes a low-voltage definite-purpose switching device conforming to the requirements of this standard. read less
As part of the Dual Logo Agreement between IEEE and IEC, this standard is denoted IEC/IEEE 62271-37-082. This standard provides methods for the measurement of sound pressure level produced by outdoor alternating current circuit-breakers in a free-field environment. These methods may also be used indoors or in restricted field, provided that precautions are observed in the measurement and interpretation of the results.
