5.1 The quality and effectiveness of TSA coatings is dependent on a variety of factors including surface preparation, coating materials, environmental conditions and control of the applications process. This practice addresses the fundamental variables and concerns relative to proper TSA application.5.2 TSA has been proven to offer resistance to the atmospheric corrosion of carbon steel pipe and to corrosion under insulation (CUI). This specification covers spray-formed seamless ferritic/austenitic stainless steel pipe intended for general corrosive service, with particular emphasis on resistance to stress corrosion cracking. These steels are susceptible to embrittlement if used for prolonged periods at elevated temperatures. The steel shall be made by the electric-furnace process and the pipe shall be made by the spray forming process using the melt from the primary melting. This guide also covers vessel-based spray systems employing single-point spray nozzles. Oil spill dispersant spray equipment shall conform to the minimum performance requirements such as target dosage, dispersant flow or injection rate determination, droplet size distribution, and maximum delivery variation over spray switch. 5.1 Pesticide regulations for the minimization of drift during pesticide application often require active ingredient (a.i.) product use under defined droplet size conditions. Spray performance with respect to transport and deposition of droplets and particles at target surfaces and product efficacy for desired applications are also affected by droplet size spectra. The effect of drift reduction adjuvants on droplet size spectra should be understood in this context. The present test method describes standard tests that can be conducted to investigate the performance of pesticide spray drift reduction adjuvants under simulated field use conditions for drift management decisions in the context of the entire spraying process. 5.1 This test method determines hiding power of a test paint by visual evaluation of a spray applied coating.NOTE 1: Test Method D2805 describes an instrumental method for determining hiding power. The paint film is applied at a uniform thickness (for example with a doctor blade), the film thickness is measured rigorously, and the opacity is determined photometrically.
