3.1 This test method is designed to compare related laminated composite gasket materials under controlled conditions and their short-time compressibility and recovery at room temperature. It measures compressibility with a matched pair of opposing upper and lower penetrators which provide better precision and bias than methods using an upper penetrator and a lower anvil. 5.1 The prepreg volatiles content, matrix content, reinforcement content, and filler content of composite prepreg materials are used to control material manufacture and subsequent fabrication processes, and are key parameters in the specification and production of such materials, as well as in the fabrication of products made with such materials.5.2 The extraction products resulting from this test method (the extract, the residue, or both) can be analyzed to assess chemical composition and degree of purity.1.1 This test method covers a Soxhlet extraction procedure to determine the matrix content, reinforcement content, and filler content of composite material prepreg. Volatiles content, if appropriate, and required, is determined by means of Test Method D3530.1.1.1 The reinforcement and filler must be substantially insoluble in the selected extraction reagent and any filler must be capable of being separated from the reinforcement by filtering the extraction residue.1.1.2 Reinforcement and filler content test results are total reinforcement content and total filler content; hybrid material systems with more than one type of either reinforcement or filler cannot be distinguished.1.2 This test method focuses on thermosetting matrix material systems for which the matrix may be extracted by an organic solvent. This specification covers co extruded composite drain, waste, and vent pipe (DWV). The pipe is produced in Schedule 40 IPS sizes by a co extrusion die system, in which the concentric layers are formed and combined before exiting the die. Coextruded composite drain, waste, and vent pipe, DWV, by definition, is permitted to be produced with two or more layers. The outer layer shall be ABS. The middle layer is permitted to be thermally foamed PVC or solid PVC or a blend of rework material, as specified. The inner layer is permitted to be solid PVC or ABS, or a blend of rework material as specified. The basic material used for pipes is a virgin compound which is used in the outer layer of co extruded composite drain, waste, and vent pipe or (DWV). It shall contain pigments or screening agents to provide protection against UV radiation. Different tests and measurements shall be conducted in order to determine the following properties of pipes: outside diameter, wall thickness, length, pipe flattening, pipe stiffness, impact strength, and bond. The inside and outside surfaces of pipe produced shall be free of chalking, sticky, or tacky material. The surfaces shall be free of excessive bloom. Bloom or chalking may develop in pipe exposed to direct rays of the sun (ultraviolet radiant energy) for extended periods and consequently, these requirements do not apply to pipe after extended exposure to direct rays of the sun. The inside and outside surfaces of pipe shall be free of foreign inclusion or other defects that re visible to the naked eye, and may affect the wall integrity.1.1 This specification covers coextruded composite drain, waste, and vent pipe (DWV). 5.1 Refer to Guide D8509.1.1 This practice provides instructions for modifying static bearing test methods to determine the fatigue behavior of composite materials subjected to cyclic bearing forces. The composite material forms are limited to continuous-fiber reinforced polymer matrix composites in which the laminate is both symmetric and balanced with respect to the test direction. 5.1 This test method determines the flexural properties (including strength, stiffness, and load/deflection behavior) of polymer matrix composite materials under the conditions defined. Procedure A is used for three-point loading and Procedure B is used for four-point loading.
