5.1 When properly performed and interpreted, the flattening test will provide information about the relative ductility of a tube and presence of surface defects. This specification covers the material, chemical and mechanical requirements for aluminum-alloy castings produced by the thixocast, rheocast, semi-solid and squeeze casting processes. It does not apply to castings used in aerospace applications. This specification covers high strength quenched and tempered alloy steel plates for fusion welded pressure vessels. The steel materials shall be killed and shall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement.
