4.1 Dichloromethane-soluble materials are typically referred to as extractives. These extractives are comprised of organic materials that originated in the wood or cotton. The measure is an indication of the efficiency of removal of these substances during pulping and bleaching. The extractive level is of concern to dissolving pulp users since the presence of large amounts of extractives could inhibit the processing of cellulose into the desired derivative.1.1 This test method covers the determination of dichloromethane-soluble matter in cellulose and is applicable to dissolving-type cellulose pulps prepared from cotton or wood.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

3.1 Alcohol ethoxylates and alkylphenol ethoxylates are important surfactants in household and industrial cleaners. They may be used as either nonionic surfactants or sulfated and used as anionic surfactants. Careful control of the ethoxylate characteristics is desired as variations may result in either desirable or undesirable end-use properties.1.1 These test methods cover the various test methods used to evaluate those properties pertinent to the characterization of alcohol ethoxylates and alkylphenol ethoxylates with respect to suitability for desired uses.1.2 The procedures for sampling and analysis appear in the following order: SectionsSampling Liquids 6 Solids 7Methods of Chemical Analysis Water or moisture 8 Refractive index 9 and 10 pH 11 Acidity or basicity 12 and 13 Hydroxyl number 14 – 20 Cloud point 21 Iodine number 22 Ash 23 Iron 24 Ethylene oxide content 25 Polyethylene glycols 26 – 321.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Material Safety Data Sheets are available for reagents and materials. Review them for hazards prior to usage. Specific hazard statements appear in Section 5 and Note 1 and Note 3.

3.1 Zinc oxide is an important rubber compounding material. It is used to activate the organic accelerators to increase the rate of vulcanization and to enhance physical properties. It is also a vulcanizing agent for halogen-containing elastomers.1.1 This classification system covers the compounding material commercially known as zinc oxide. The types of zinc oxide used in the rubber industry are related to the production process used. Typical chemical and physical properties are included.1.2 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

3.1 This practice is intended to define the range of properties to be tested, the apparatus to be used, and the comparisons of automotive polish performance to be made. Since conditions, products, and apparatus vary, considerable discretion must exist among formulators and marketers in these areas and on what properties or performance characteristics are most significant for their products. This practice is intended to be flexible enough to honor this fact within the description of automotive polish in Section 2.3.2 The test methods are subjective and empirical in order to conform to the basic characteristics of the class of products and to allow flexibility in testing. This also conforms to typical consumer experience.3.3 The practice also allows for flexibility in choice of environmental characteristics under which the durability testing is done. This allows discretion to be exercised by those testing the products in order to provide greatest significance for the products being tested as they are intended for various marketplace needs.1.1 This practice covers the evaluation of the performance properties of automotive polishes. This practice is applicable to products that are commonly referred to as car/auto wax, cleaner wax, polish, and the like. This practice is limited to a comparison among test polishes, with a standard polish, or both, under the conditions of the individual test. The comparative results are indicative of absolute performance only insofar as the test conditions are representative of all normal application and use conditions.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.3 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

3.1 This test method assures that the particle size of soaps and detergents conforms to specifications having to do with density and packaging, among others. It also offers a means of controlling the amount of potentially hazardous very low particle size material.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the particle size of soaps and other detergents by hand sieving and machine sieving methods.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. 4.1 The electrical behavior of rubber products used in particular applications is important for a variety of reasons such as safety, static changes, current transmission, etc. This test method is useful in predicting the behavior of such rubber products.1.1 This test method covers the determination of volume resistivity of rubbers used in electrically conductive and antistatic products.1.2 This test method assumes that the surface conductivity is negligible compared with the conductivity through the specimen.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
