4.1 Moisture permeating from concrete substrates can detrimentally affect the performance of resilient floor covering systems. All resilient flooring and adhesive manufacturers have a maximum acceptable level of moisture in which their products can perform satisfactorily. If pre-installation moisture tests indicate that the moisture level is unacceptable for the specified floor covering to be installed, one option is to apply a topical treatment to the concrete substrate surface to mitigate the moisture condition. Experience has shown that certain types of membrane-forming moisture mitigation systems have more desirable properties and successful performance than others. Requirements for membrane-forming moisture mitigation systems to be used, and other related details, are generally included as part of the project plans, or specification details, and may vary from the minimum recommendations set forth in this practice.4.2 This practice is intended for use after it has been determined that a floor moisture condition exceeds the resilient floor covering or adhesive manufacturer’s requirements, or both, as tested according to Test Methods F1869, F2170, and F2420.4.3 Membrane-forming moisture mitigation systems are not intended for use over gypsum-based substrates or other moisture sensitive substrates.1.1 This practice covers the properties, application, and performance of a two-component resin based membrane-forming moisture mitigation system to high moisture concrete substrates prior to the installation of resilient flooring.1.2 This practice includes recommendations for the preparation of the concrete surface to receive a two-component resin based membrane-forming moisture mitigation system.1.3 This practice does not supersede written instructions of the two-component resin based membrane-forming moisture mitigation system manufacturer, the resilient flooring manufacturer, underlayment manufacturer, the adhesive manufacturer, or other components of the finish flooring system, or combinations thereof. This specification covers the design, material, and minimum performance requirements for resilient connectors used to provide a positive seal between the pipe and manholes or other structures subjected to internal and external hydrostatic pressures less than 10.8 psi [74 KPa]. Testing under this specification is limited to hydrostatic pressures and conducted in a laboratory as a proof of design certification. Resilient materials for connectors and filler rings shall be manufactured from natural or synthetic rubber, shall display no fracture at -40 ºF [-40 ºC], and shall meet a minimum tear resistance of 200 lbf/in [34 kN/m] when tested. Expansion rings, tension bands, and take-up devices used for mechanically compressing the resilient portion of the connector against the pipe, manhole or wastewater structure shall be made from a material or materials in combination that will ensure durability, strength, resistance to corrosion, and continued resistance to leakage. Bolts, nuts, and other threaded items used with joining systems shall be zinc coated by one of the following processes: hot-dip process, electroplating process, or mechanical process. This specification establishes the material, manufacturing, physical, and performance requirements for resilient flooring, typically in tiles or planks format, or both, that are surface decorated or printed and protected by a clear wear layer. The product is a laminated resilient flooring structure that utilizes a polymeric rigid core as part of the product structure and is intended for use in commercial and residential buildings. 4.1 Conductive and static dissipative floors (static control flooring) serve as a convenient means of electrically connecting persons and objects together to prevent the accumulation of electrostatic charges. A static control floor is specified on the basis of controlled resistance values. The surface of the floor provides a path of moderate electrical conductivity between all persons and equipment making contact with the floor to prevent the accumulation of dangerous electrostatic charges. Static control footwear will need to be used in conjunction with the floor for the floor to perform effectively with personnel.4.2 The resistance of some flooring materials change with age. 4.1 This test method is designed to measure the vertical distance between any two levels on the face of the flooring, that is, between any two flat areas, between a flat area and any part of a textured area, or between two textured areas. 5.1 Any individual performing a mat bond evaluation should either be a qualified installer or a trained and experienced evaluator of resilient flooring and adhesive bond strength.5.2 This practice should not be considered mandatory, except when required or specified by the end user, general contractor and architect, flooring contractor, adhesive manufacturer(s), underlayment manufacturer(s) or flooring manufacturer(s).5.2.1 Typically, this practice is only recommended or required if products from a different manufacturer(s) are being used in combinations not experienced before or if the substrate preparation or application method is in question.5.3 The number of mat bond evaluation(s) should be selected that is appropriate for the project and be representative of each type of substrate, including trenches, grade, type of flooring, and ambient conditions. The number may also be determined by the responsible party or specified by the end user, general contractor and architect, flooring contractor, adhesive manufacturer(s), underlayment manufacturer(s) or flooring manufacturer(s).5.4 All mat bond evaluation(s) conducted shall have the results recorded within report, including photographs (see A1.11).5.5 There are many factors that may influence the outcome of mat bond evaluation(s). Therefore, it is required to follow each manufacturer(s) installation/application instructions for every product used including open, curing, drying time, and the length of time required prior to evaluation(s)s.5.6 Each step of the process must be conducted only at a time when the subfloor and ambient conditions comply with the requirements defined by all of the relevant manufacturer(s) written installation instructions or Practices F710, F1482, F2419, F2471, F2678, F2873, F3010, or combinations thereof.1.1 This practice is designed to provide a short-term qualitative evaluation of the effectiveness and compatibility of the composite layers for flexible and fully adhered resilient flooring installation(s). Aspects of the resilient flooring assembly to be evaluated may include concrete surface profile (CSP), surface preparation, a topical moisture mitigation system, underlayment product(s), primer(s), application and the installation of the resilient flooring material itself. The test measures the net effect of a combination of interface shear mechanisms, which may vary depending on type of geosynthetic specimen, embedment length, relative opening size, soil type, displacement rate, normal stress, and other factors.5.3 Information between laboratories on precision is incomplete. In cases of dispute, comparative tests to determine if there is a statistical bias between laboratories may be advisable.1.1 This test method details how cyclic loading is applied to geosynthetics embedded in soil to determine the apparent stiffness of the soil–geosynthetic interface.1.2 Resilient interface shear stiffness describes the shear stiffness between a geosynthetic and its surrounding soil under conditions of small cyclic loads.1.3 This test method is intended to provide properties for design. The test method was developed for mechanistic empirical pavement design methods requiring input of the resilient interface shear stiffness. The use of this parameter from this test method for other applications involving cyclic loading should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. It can also be used to compare different geosynthetics, soil types, etc., and thereby be used as a research and development test procedure.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
