5.1 This test method provides procedures for obtaining tristimulus values, luminance factors and chromaticity coordinates of fluorescent-retroreflective materials by bispectral colorimetry using a 45:0 or 0:45 optical measuring system.5.2 The CIE 1931 (2°) standard observer is used to calculate the colorimetric properties of fluorescent-retroreflective sheeting and markings used in daytime high visibility traffic control and personal safety applications because in practice these materials are primarily viewed from a distance where they subtend less than 4° of the visual field.5.3 This test method is applicable to object-color specimens of any gloss level.5.4 Due to the retroreflective properties of these materials the colorimetric data may not be suitable for use in computer colorant formulation.5.5 This test method is suitable for quality control testing of fluorescent-retroreflective sheeting and marking materials.NOTE 1: Separation of the fluorescence and reflectance components from the total colorimetric properties provides useful and meaningful information to evaluate independently the luminescent and diffuse reflective efficiency and consistency of these materials.5.6 This test method is the referee method for determining the conformance of fluorescent-retroreflective sheeting and marking materials to standard daytime colorimetric specifications.1.1 This test method describes the instrumental measurement of the colorimetric properties (CIE tristimulus values, luminance factors, and chromaticity coordinates) of fluorescent-retroreflective sheeting and marking materials when illuminated by daylight.1.2 This test method is generally applicable to any sheeting or marking material having combined fluorescent and retroreflective properties used for daytime high visibility traffic control and personal safety applications.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 These test methods establish standard procedures designed for evaluating the performance wind safety and durability characteristics of MUs.5.2 These test methods are suitable for both end users and manufacturers to evaluate performance characteristics of MUs and base mounting components.5.2.1 End users may use these test methods to determine how well MUs and base components meet their particular application and conditions of use.5.2.2 Manufacturers of MUs and base mounting components may use these test methods to determine the wind performance characteristics in existing or proposed designs.5.3 Procedure A is an evaluation of MU structural integrity (pole, frame, canopy, and base components) by subjecting the MU to a uniform wind generated by a wind tunnel. Procedure B is an evaluation of MU and base component durability by subjecting the MU to a uniform wind generated by a wind tunnel for a fixed period of time. Each procedure is used to rate MU and base stanchion performance using the Beaufort Scale for users to be able to correlate the wind speed safety and durability determined in the testing to visual and subjective observation of the area of uses of the MU.5.4 Results from use of these test methods on one type of MU and base components are not comparable to other test results on a different MU due to differences in MU materials and designs used for poles, frames, canopies, vents, and hubs as well as base weights, shapes, and holding mechanisms.5.5 These test methods are not intended to assess cleaning or other weather stress resulting from wear and tear in an actual use environment.5.6 End users and manufacturers of MU and base components should consider these test methods to be minimum procedures for evaluating MU and base component wind safety and durability characteristics as a wind tunnel procedure is considered to produce the most accurate wind pressures of any method according to ASCE/SEI 7-10 Wind Tunnel Procedure. Users of these test methods may wish to consider additional tests and procedures that relate directly to their application such as finite element analysis software.5.7 Each buyer of a MU should establish its own criteria for assessing acceptable safety and durability performance.1.1 These test methods are intended for evaluating market umbrellas (MUs) to determine the suitability of the MU in a use environment on the basis of wind safety and durability.1.1.1 Procedure A is a safety scenario intended to test the structural strength of the MU to a uniform wind force generated by a wind tunnel.1.1.2 Procedure B is a wind durability scenario intended to determine the ability of the MU to perform in a high wind weather environment for a sustained period.1.1.3 The performance of the MU is then rated using the Beaufort Scale, as shown in Annex A1, to communicate the safety and durability performance of the MU.1.2 These test methods apply to most MUs designed for use in-home setting, such as pool or patio areas; recreation areas, such as the beach, pool, or tennis courts; and business settings, such as theme parks, water parks, resort pools, hotels, restaurants, cafés, and other business settings.1.3 The values as stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values in parentheses are given for information only.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.

4.1 The purpose of this classification is to identify potential concerns and effects which may occur during the life cycle (installation, service, removal, and disposal) of insulation materials and accessories resulting from direct contact or indirect action or events.4.2 This classification does not identify remedial or preventive steps that may be taken to correct potential problems or hazards; rather it is intended as a checklist that will make it easier to deal constructively with these potentials, and to determine what, if any, specific requirements need to be added to other standards concerning insulation materials or accessories. (See Appendix X2 for sources of information.)4.3 This classification recognizes that proper handling and installation procedures can substantially reduce the potential concerns and effects. Further, it recognizes that in some situations the presence or creation of potential effects or hazards results from an intervening act of human or natural origin, or depends on access to or contact with the materials or accessories. Lack of compatibility of the individual components of an insulation system with each other or the environmental conditions within which the system will operate, or both, may create unanticipated effects. (See Appendix X3.)1.1 This classification identifies potential concerns and effects that could result from direct contact with thermal insulation materials and accessories, or be caused by indirect action of events such as aging, fire, or physical disturbance.1.2 Intent of Classification: 1.2.1 It is the intent of this classification to alert others to potential concerns, effects, hazards, or risk.1.2.2 It is not the intent of this classification to establish the degree of risk or hazard or limiting values of potential hazards.1.2.3 It is not the intent of this classification to establish or recommend methods or markings to reduce or mitigate the potential; however, it is recognized that correct procedures and precautionary measures can substantially reduce or eliminate some of the potential concerns, effects, hazards, or risks.NOTE 1: See Appendix X1 for commentary.1.3 This classification recognizes the responsibility of producers and users, as appropriate, to: (1) provide information on known effects or hazards, (2) advise on established safety and health practices, and (3) determine applicable regulatory requirements.1.4 This classification does not address the health and safety concerns of thermal insulation materials and accessories during manufacture.1.5 Omission of an item from this classification does not imply an absence of potential concerns or effects.1.6 There is no importance in the order of listing.1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 The Ship Safety Record is an electronic database of information pertaining to a specific vessel including information related to the safe operation of the vessel and the safety of it’s crew and the environment. The data is grouped and organized under the following key categories: vessel particulars, vessel status, crew requirements, crew status, voyage specific data, record of inspection, record of incidents, and corrective actions.4.2 The Ship Safety Record is created and maintained in each instance for the primary benefit of the owner, technical manager, or operator who is required through the implementation of the ISM Code to be cognizant of such information. The information in the database is at all times the property of the owner who will maintain and control the dissemination of any and all of the information. It is expected that operators will elect to make portions of their Ship Safety Record database available to other interested parties such as flag states, class societies, and port states.14 The Ship Safety Record should provide for the implementation of several levels of electronic database security as may be required by the vessel owner or operator. The data that becomes part of the Ship Safety Record can be thought of in a number of subsets:4.2.1 Data that is not subject to change, including particulars of the vessel, and so forth.4.2.2 Data that is subject to change but not normally by the ship’s crew.4.2.3 Data that will be updated periodically either manually or as a result of updates to other computer systems or applications. This would include, as an example, cargo information, ballast conditions, the names/identification of crew members, and passenger details. This would also include information relative to internal inspections, maintenance records, internal audits, safety audits, and so forth.4.3 Guides F1756 and F1757 may be used as the basis for implementation of a shipboard electronic database and ship safety record.AbstractThis guide provides a uniform format and definition of general vessel-related technical information, including ship safety data, to be used by ship owners and operators, at their option and to the extent that they consider beneficial to their operation. It is recognized that all of the data is already contained in various documents on the vessel, but normally not electronically and normally not in one location. The ship safety record is designed to provide an industry-accepted common method of identifying, maintaining, and subsequently communicating the safety-related information needed for maritime operations. The ship safety record is an electronic database of information pertaining to a specific vessel including information related to the safe operation of the vessel and the safety of its crew and the environment. The vessel particulars, vessel status, crew requirements, status of crew and persons other than passengers on board, voyage specific data, record of inspection, record of incidents and corrective actions are presented in details.1.1 This guide provides a uniform format and definition of general vessel-related technical information, including ship safety data, to be used by ship owners and operators, at their option and to the extent that they consider beneficial to their operation. It is recognized that all of the data is already contained in various documents on the vessel, but normally not electronically and normally not in one location. The Ship Safety Record is designed to provide an industry-accepted common method of identifying, maintaining, and subsequently communicating the safety-related information needed for maritime operations. It is recognized that many of the data fields are not applicable for every vessel. Appendix X1 and Appendix X2 provide examples of how data elements in this guide may be used for a specific purpose, that is, the USCG’s Automated Identification System (AIS) and the Advance Notice of Arrival.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.3 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 This practice can be used for a range of purposes including incident replication, development of improved arc rated protective products, and the determination of the response characteristics and design integrity of new or used arc rated finished products intended for use as protection for workers exposed to electric arcs.5.1.1 In-service garments can have very different wash and wear histories. Caution must be used when applying test results from a particular used garment. Factors to consider include the garments’ wear histories, work environments, and tasks for which the garments were worn; the methods and facilities for garment maintenance; the number of launderings or processings the garments have been subjected to; and other factors that could impact the protective performance of different garments. Test results from specific used garments should be considered only an approximation of results that might be obtained from other used garments of the same type.5.1.2 When using the practice for evaluating flame resistance, great care should be taken since ignition by electric arc is a statistical phenomenon. An exposure of 20 cal/cm2 has been consistently shown to evaluate most ignitable materials but some may require higher energy to reach the breakopen point of the fabric depending on coatings or specific fiber types. Consider using a vertical flame test such as Test Method D6413 to evaluate for ignition and use this practice for illustration.5.2 This practice maintains the specimen in a static, vertical position and does not involve movement except that resulting from the exposure.1.1 This practice identifies protocols for use in conducting arc testing on finished products intended for use as thermal protection by workers who may be exposed to electric arc hazards.1.1.1 The practice is also used for other components which can be exposed to electric arc, but which do not require an arc rating.1.1.1.1 If items are tested and they do not meet the appropriate standard, it is the responsibility of the specimen submitter to provide this information for indication in the test report.1.2 Arc Rated protective items are typically tested using this practice to evaluate the performance of the interface area between the product and the other arc flash PPE or to evaluate zippers and other findings.1.3 This practice does not establish an arc rating for any product. Other ASTM test methods are to be used when applicable such as ASTM F1959/F1959M, F2178, and F2675.1.4 This practice is not intended to produce an arc rating and does not replicate in all types of arc exposures.1.5 This practice is used with the following standards:1.5.1 Protective fabric materials receive arc ratings from Test Method F1959/F1959M.1.5.2 Face protective products receive arc ratings from Test Method F2178.1.5.3 Gloves receive arc ratings from Test Method F2675.1.5.4 Rainwear materials, findings and closures are specified by Specification F1891.1.5.5 Garments are specified by Specification F1506.1.6 The test specimens used in this practice are typically in the form of arc-rated finished products. These arc-rated finished products may include, but are not limited to, single layer garments, multi-layer garments or ensembles, cooling vests, gloves, sleeves, chaps, rainwear, balaclavas, faceshields, and hood assemblies with hood shield windows. Non-arc rated finished products may be included when part of a flame-resistant system, or for evaluating heat transmission through the finished product for incident reenactment, or for evaluation of products needed but not available as arc rated (such as respirators, etc.)1.7 The arc rated finished product specimens are new products as sold or products which have been used for the intended purpose for a designated time.1.8 This practice is used to determine the response characteristics or design integrity of arc-rated materials, products, or assemblies in the form of finished products when exposed to radiant and convective energy generated by an electric arc under controlled laboratory conditions.1.9 This practice can be used to determine the integrity of closures and seams in arc exposures, the protective performance of arc-rated products in areas where garment overlap occurs or where heraldry reflective trim or other items are used, and response characteristics such as afterflame time, melting, dripping, deformation, shrinkage, ignition, or other damage, or combination thereof, of fabrics, systems of fabrics, flammable undergarments when included as part of a system, sewing thread, findings, and closures.1.10 This practice can be used for incident reenactment, training demonstrations, and material/design comparisons.1.11 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined.1.12 This standard shall not be used to describe or appraise the fire hazard or fire risk of materials, products, or assemblies under actual fire conditions. However, results of this test may be used as elements of a fire assessment, which takes into account all of the factors, which are pertinent to an assessment of the fire hazard of a particular end use.1.13 This standard does not purport to describe or appraise the effect of the electric arc fragmentation explosion and subsequent molten metal splatter, which involves the pressure wave containing molten metals and possible fragments of other materials except to the extent that evidence of projectile damage is assessed and reported.1.14 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For specific precautions, see Section 7.1.15 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

It also includes recommendations for age labeling and warnings, and guidelines on identifying the primary intended users (children or adults). It does not purport to cover every conceivable hazard of children’s jewelry. It does not cover product performance or quality, except as related to safety. This specification has no requirements for those aspects of children’s jewelry that present an inherent and recognized hazard as part of the function of jewelry, such as small parts. This specification establishes requirements recognizing that not all jewelry is appropriate for all age groups. Jewelry is not recommended for young children 3 and under absent close parental supervision.1.2 This specification applies only to jewelry, as defined in 3.2.1, which is designed or intended primarily for children 12 years of age and younger, as defined in 3.2.2.
