This specification establishes the requirements for flat copper wire and strip products, with rolled or drawn finished edges produced for general applications. Unless otherwise established by agreement between the manufacturer and purchaser, products shall be produced in UNS Copper Nos. C10100, C10200, C10300, C10500, C10700, C10800, C11000, C11040, C12200, and C14200. The material for manufacture shall be a billet, cake, wire bar, or rod suitable for processing by hot working, cold working, and annealing to produce a uniform wrought structure in the finished product. Products shall be produced in the annealed (O61) and cold worked (H00, H01, H02, H03, H04, H06, and H08) tempers. Products shall be tested and shall adhere to dimensional (thickness, width, length, straightness, and edge contour), mechanical (tensile strength, elongation, Rockwell hardness, bend angle, and hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility), electrical resisitvity, and chemical composition requirements.1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for copper products, flat wire and strip, with rolled or drawn finished edges produced for general application.1.1.1 The product is produced in UNS Copper Nos. This specification covers the requirements for wrought seamless and welded and drawn cobalt alloy small diameter tubing used for the manufacture of surgical implants. Product variables that differentiate small diameter medical tubing from the bar, wire, sheet, and strip product forms are addressed. This specification applies to straight length tubing of specified diameters and thickness. This specification covers cold-drawn, stress-relieved carbon steel bars subject to mechanical property requirements. The bars are furnished in two classes, A and B. Class A are normal-draft cold-drawn and stress-relieved rounds, squares, hexagons, and flats. Class B are heavy-draft cold-drawn and stress-relieved rounds and hexagons. The steel shall be made by one or more of the following primary processes: open-hearth, basic-oxygen, or electric-furnace. The cast or heat analysis shall conform to the chemical composition requirements specified. Tension test shall be made to conform to the requirements specified.1.1 This specification covers two classes, nine grades, and four conditions of stress-relieved cold-drawn carbon steel bars produced to mechanical property requirements. This specification covers two classes of uncoated, high-strength, hard-drawn steel wires for use in the manufacture of prestressed concrete pipe. The steel shall be made by the open-hearth, basic-oxygen, or electric-furnace process, and shall be free of injurious piping and undue segregation. The wire shall be cold drawn to produce the desired mechanical properties and there shall be no welds or joints in the finished wire. Cast or heat analysis of the steel shall conform to the chemical requirements specified for carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, and nitrogen. This specification covers round, uncoated, high tensile strength, cold-drawn steel spring wires having properties and quality suitable for the manufacture of mechanical springs and wire forms subject to high static stresses or infrequent dynamic load, or both. The steel shall be made by any commercially accepted steel making process. The steel shall either be ingot cast or continuous strand cast. The finished wire shall be free from detrimental pipe and undue segregation. The wire shall be cold drawn to produce the desired tensile strength. The wire finish shall be suitable for forming or coiling. It is not intended that this material be furnished with a metallic coating. 4.1 Hard-drawn steel wire as used in prestressed concrete pipe may be exposed to elemental hydrogen favorable to hydrogen induced embrittlement and cracking. This specification covers round, uncoated, cold-drawn spring wire in coils intended for the manufacture of upholstery springs such as zig-zag, square-formed, and sinuous. This specification covers four conductivities of bare, hard-drawn, round, aluminum-clad steel wire for general use for electrical purposes. The wire shall be composed of a steel core with a substantially uniform and continuous aluminum covering thoroughly bonded to it. The drawn wire shall have the properties and characteristics prescribed in the specification. The wire of varying nominal diameters shall conform to the prescribed tensile requirements such as tensile strength and elongation. The electrical resistance of the wire shall be determined by resistance measurements and maximum resistance shall be based on the nominal diameter of the wire and the resistivity value. The steel wire shall conform to the prescribed values of physical constants such as modulus of elasticity, coefficient of linear expansion, and temperature coefficient of resistance. Within a required range of diameters, the wire shall not vary from the specified diameter by more than the amount indicated. The aluminum thickness at any point shall not be less than the required values. The wire shall undergo a twist test, where the specimen shall be gripped at its ends in vises, one of which shall be free to move longitudinally during the test. The finished wire shall contain no joints or splices. The material shall also conform to the approximate properties of hard-drawn conductivity aluminum-clad steel wire.1.1 This specification covers four conductivities of bare, hard-drawn, round, aluminum-clad steel wire for general use for electrical purposes in sizes 0.2043 to 0.0808 in. incl (4 to 12 AWG) (Note 1). This specification covers hard-drawn round copper alloy wires for electric conductors. The wires shall be made in any one of ten distinct alloys designated 8.5, 13, 15, 20, 30, 40, 55, 74, 80, and 85 in accordance with their increasing electrical conductivities.
