3.1 The use of this practice for the emergency joining of booms will not guarantee the effective performance of the joined boom sections, since each boom design and the environmental conditions of each incident govern the overall performance.3.2 Historically, different types of end connectors have been produced. This practice addresses the operational need to connect different types, during spill incidents. (Warning—Use of this practice with similar or different sizes of boom may cause the transmission of unwanted loading such as, tension loading and bending moments on certain boom parts resulting in possible premature failure of the containment system.)3.3 There are a wide range of boom connector configurations presently in use. These connectors were based upon some or all of the following design criteria:3.3.1 Connect and transfer tensile loads between boom sections,3.3.2 Minimize oil leakage between boom sections,3.3.3 Be easily connectable in the presence of dirt, oil or ice, or a combination thereof,3.3.4 Be quickly and easily connected and disconnected, in and out of the water,3.3.5 Maintain boom performance (freeboard, heave response, conformance, stability, and so forth),3.3.6 Be unaffected by temperature extremes,3.3.7 Have no protruding parts that could snag, injure, or puncture,3.3.8 Be light weight and buoyant,3.3.9 Be operatively symmetrical,3.3.10 Require no special tools for installation or removal,3.3.11 Require no loose parts for connection,3.3.12 Extend to the full height and draft of the boom,3.3.13 Resist distortion (that is, winding boom on a reel), and3.3.14 Be inherently safe to personnel.1.1 This practice provides a standard practice for the joining of oil spill containment boom connectors in emergencies.1.2 The use of this connection method may adversely affect the total tensile strength of the connected booms.1.3 These criteria are intended to define mating requirements that will allow the emergency or occasional connection of unlike connectors.1.4 This practice is not intended to replace Specification F962.1.5 This practice does not address the compatibility of spill control equipment with spill products. It is the user's responsibility to ensure that any equipment selected is compatible with the anticipated spilled material.1.6 There is no guarantee that all of the connectors in use today can accept the holes spaced as required without interfering with existing bolt holes or other connector features.1.7 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. See Note 5 in Fig. 1—dimensions A and B are critical.FIG. 1 Side View of a Typical Connector1.8 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For a specific precautionary statement, see 3.2.1.9 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

ASTM E1129/E1129M-19 Standard Specification for Thermocouple Connectors Active 发布日期 :  1970-01-01 实施日期 :

4.1 The widespread use of thermocouple connectors requires standardization of mating dimensions and performance characteristics.4.2 This specification describes standardized thermocouple connector dimensions and capabilities and includes test procedures suitable for evaluating the performance of a particular specimen or design. The tests described are not intended for routine inspection or rapid testing of large groups of connectors or for quality control purposes.AbstractThis specification covers separable single-circuit thermocouple connectors with two round pins. The widespread use of thermocouple connectors requires standardization of mating dimensions and performance characteristics. Connectors shall be constructed as either plugs or jacks, and these two forms shall be designed to connect with each other. Contact resistance test, thermal gradient test, and insulation resistance test shall be performed to meet the requirements prescribed.1.1 This specification covers separable single-circuit thermocouple connectors with two round pins. Connectors covered by this specification must be rated for continuous use to at least 300 °F (150 °C), but they may optionally be rated to a higher temperature.1.2 This specification does not cover multiple-circuit connectors, multi-pin connectors, miniature connectors, or connectors intended primarily for panel mounting. High temperature connectors (for example, those designed for continuous use at temperatures above approximately 500 °F (260 °C)) are not intended to be covered by this specification.1.3 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in brackets are not conversions to the values they succeed and therefore shall be used independently of the preceding values. The values given in parentheses are conversions of the values they succeed. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.1.4 The following precautionary statement pertains only to the test methods portion, Section 9, of this specification. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 The tests in this test method are designed to assess the resistance stability of electrical contacts or connections.4.2 The described procedures are for the detection of events that result from short duration, high-resistance fluctuations, or of voltage variations that may result in improper triggering of high speed digital circuits.4.3 In those procedures, the test currents are 100 mA (±20 mA) when the test sample has a resistance between 0 and 10 Ω. Since the minimum resistance change required to produce an event (defined in 3.2.1) is specified as 10 Ω (see 1.3), the voltage increase required to produce this event must be at least 1.0 V.4.4 The detection of nanosecond-duration events is considered necessary when an application is susceptible to noise. However, these procedures are not capable of determining the actual duration of the event detected.4.5 The integrity of nanosecond-duration signals can only be maintained with transmission lines; therefore, contacts in series are connected to a detector channel through coaxial cable. The detector will indicate when the resistance monitored exceeds the minimum event resistance for more than the specified duration.4.6 The test condition designation corresponding to a specific minimum event duration of 1, 10, or 50 ns is listed in Table 1. These shall be specified in the referencing document.1.1 This test method describes equipment and techniques for detecting contact resistance transients yielding resistances greater than a specified value and lasting for at least a specified minimum duration.1.2 The minimum durations specified in this standard are 1, 10, and 50 nanoseconds (ns).1.3 The minimum sample resistance required for an event detection in this standard is 10 Ω.1.4 An ASTM guide for measuring electrical contact transients of various durations is available as Guide B854.1.5 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to become familiar with all hazards including those identified in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product/material as provided by the manufacturer, to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices, and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

The output uncertainty allocated to the connector depends on the connector design and temperature gradient.5.2 Connector performance can be classified based on the results of this method and used as part of a component specification.5.3 The method can be used as an engineering tool for evaluating different connector designs tested under similar thermal conditions.1.1 This standard describes a thermal emf test method for base-metal thermocouple connectors including Types E, J, K, N, and T. Standard connectors such as found in Specifications E1129/E1129M and E1684/E1684M as well as non-standard connector configurations and connector components can be evaluated using this method.1.2 The measured emf is reported as an equivalent temperature deviation or error relative to a reference thermocouple of the same type. This method can be used to verify deviations introduced by the connector greater than or equal to 1°C.1.3 The connector is tested with thermocouple contacts axially aligned with a temperature gradient using a specified thermal boundary condition. The actual temperature difference developed across the connector and corresponding error will depend on the connector design.1.4 Connector contacts are often fabricated from raw materials having temperature-emf relationships in accordance with Specification E230/E230M. However, verifying Specification E230/E230M tolerances is not within the scope of this method.1.5 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
