5.1 The test procedures provide a standard method of obtaining data for research and development, quality control, acceptance and rejection under specifications, and special purposes.5.2 The data obtained by these test methods are applicable to the material under conditions of the particular test and are not necessarily the same as obtained in other environments in use.1.1 These test methods apply to slab, bonded, and molded flexible cellular products known as urethane foams. Urethane foam is generally defined as an expanded cellular product produced by the interaction of active hydrogen compounds, water, and isocyanates.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.NOTE 1: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard, however certain test methods in this standard have similar or equivalent ISO standards and are listed in the scope of the individual test method sections.

This specification covers coextruded poly(vinyl chloride) plastic pipe with a cellular core and concentric inner and outer solid layers. The pipe is produced using a multilayer coextrusion die for nonpressure use in three series: an IPS Schedule 40 series; a PS series with an iron pipe size outside diameter with varying wall thickness as required for pipe stiffness of 25, 50, and 100; and a sewer and drain series. The pipe shall comply with the minimum wall thickness, outside diameter, length, stiffness, flattening, impact strength, bond strength, and extrusion quality requirements.1.1 This specification covers coextruded poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) plastic pipe with a cellular core and concentric inner and outer solid layers, and is produced using a multilayer coextrusion die for nonpressure use in three series: an IPS Schedule 40 series for DWV; a PS series with an iron pipe size (IPS) outside diameter with varying wall thickness as required for pipe stiffnesses of 25, 50, and 100 for communication conduit, and a sewer and drain series.1.2 The function of this specification is to provide standardization of product-technical data and serve as a purchasing guide.1.3 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes, and appendixes which provide explanatory material. The notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of the specification.NOTE 1: All the pipe series covered by this specification are permitted to be perforated or belled for joining by solvent cement or belled for joining by an elastomeric seal (gasket). Because this pipe is OD controlled, the inside diameter will vary, and therefore, the pipe ID is not suitable for use as a socket. (For more information see Specification D2672.)NOTE 2: This standard specifies dimensional, performance and test requirements for plumbing and fluid handling applications, but does not address venting of combustion gases.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.NOTE 3: Specifications related to this specification are as follows: D2665, D2729, D3034, F512, F758, and F789.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This practice covers the repair of rigid cellular polyurethane insulation systems on outdoor service vessels operating within a specified temperature range. Before any repairs are performed, all damaged nonadhering foam should be removed up to the dry, solidly adhering layer and the remaining foam insulation should then be beveled on all sides. If the existing substrate primer is damaged, it should be wire-brushed and reprimed where feasible. To protect the surrounding undamaged area, a covering should be installed around the area that needs to be repaired prior to the application of spray foam. Repairs shall be made in accordance with the prescribed procedure.1.1 This practice covers the repair of spray-applied polyurethane insulation on vessels normally operating at temperatures between −30 and +107°C [−22 and +225°F].1.2 Warning—At temperatures below 0°C [32°F] the application of a spray “foam” directly onto the cold substrate may not be possible. The term “foam” applies to spray-applied polyurethane or polyisocyanurate (PUR or PIR) rigid cellular plastic only, and not to any other plastic insulation.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.1.4 This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For a specific precautionary statement see 1.2.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 This guide provides definitions and a classification for CTPs, as well as definitions related to skin tissue, skin wounds and ulcers, wound healing physiology, wound covers, and related medical and surgical procedures. This guide is not intended to prescribe or limit the clinical uses of these products.4.2 One objective of the current guide is to include the wide range of CTPs for which there is a rationale for benefit beyond that achievable with conventional wound coverings. Whether an individual CTP is capable of promoting wound healing must be determined by adequate evidence and is beyond the scope of this standard. Given that some of the materials used in dressings and skin substitutes (defined in Guide F2311) are the same as those used in CTPs, there has been confusion as to how to classify these products.4.3 This guide is distinguished from Guide F2311, which defines terminology and provides classification by clinical use for products that can be substituted for tissue grafts of human or animal tissue in medical and surgical therapies of skin lesions. In contrast, this guide defines terminology for description of CTPs for skin wounds; CTPs are defined primarily by their composition. Neither guide establishes a correspondence between device structure and clinical function.1.1 This guide defines terminology for description of cellular and/or tissue-based products (CTPs) for skin wounds. CTPs are TEMPs (tissue-engineered medical products) that are primarily defined by their composition and comprise viable and/or nonviable human or animal cells, viable and/or nonviable tissues, and may include extracellular matrix components. CTPs may additionally include synthetic components.1.2 This guide also describes categories and terminology for CTPs based on their composition. This systematic categorization is not intended to be prescriptive for product labeling, and it describes only the most salient characteristics of these products; the actual biological and clinical functions can depend on characteristics not recognized in the categorization and it should be understood that two products that can be described identically by the categorization should not be presumed to be identical or have the same clinical utility.1.3 This guide defines CTP-related terminology in the context of skin wounds. However, this guide does not provide a correspondence between the CTP composition and its clinical use(s). More than one product may be suitable for each clinical use, and one product may have more than one clinical use.1.4 This guide does not purport to address safety concerns with the use of CTPs. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices involved in the development of said products in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance documents and in implementing this guide to evaluate the cellular and/or tissue-based products for wounds.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.

5.1 This test method is used to develop data for comparison or compliance with the requirements of Specification C869/C869M.1.1 This test method furnishes a way of measuring, in the laboratory, the performance of a foaming chemical to be used in producing foam (air cells) for making cellular concrete.1.2 This test method includes the following:1.2.1 Manufacture of laboratory quantities of cellular concrete.1.2.2 Determination of the air content of the freshly prepared cellular concrete and of the hardened concrete after handling in conventional machinery.1.2.3 Determination of the following properties of the hardened concrete: compressive strength, tensile splitting strength, density, and water absorption. It may not be necessary to study all of the above properties in all cases, depending on the proposed use of the material.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined.1.4 If the required results obtained from another standard are not reported in the same system of units as used by this standard, it is permitted to convert those results using the conversion factors found in the SI Quick Reference Guide.1.5 The text of this standard references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of the standard.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

5.1 This test method is intended for use when measuring surface flammability of flexible cellular materials exposed to fire. The test method provides a laboratory test procedure for measuring and comparing the surface flammability of materials when exposed to a prescribed level of radiant heat energy. The test is conducted using specimens that are representative, to the extent possible, of the material or assembly being evaluated. For example, if an assembly is required to be tested, such specimens shall replicate the type and thickness of all the layers present in the assembly being evaluated.5.2 The rate at which flames will travel along surfaces depends upon the physical and thermal properties of the material, product, or assembly under test, the specimen mounting method and orientation, the type and level of fire or heat exposure, the availability of air, and properties of the surrounding enclosure. (1-6)4, 55.3 Test Method E162 is a generic version of this test method, using an apparatus that is substantially the same as the one used in this test method. However, Test Method E162 is normally intended for application to specimens other than flexible cellular materials.5.3.1 The pilot burner in this test method is different from the pilot burner in Test Method E162.5.4 In this procedure, the specimens are subjected to one or more specific sets of laboratory fire test conditions. If different test conditions are substituted or the end-use conditions are changed, it is not always possible by or from this test to predict changes in the fire-test-response characteristics measured. Therefore, the results are valid only for the fire test exposure conditions described in this procedure.5.5 If the test results obtained by this test method are to be considered as part of an overall assessment of fire hazard in a building or structure, then the criteria, concepts and procedures incorporated into Guide E1546 shall be taken into consideration.1.1 This is a fire test response standard.1.2 This test method describes the measurement of surface flammability of flexible cellular materials.1.3 This standard measures and describes the response of materials, products, or assemblies to heat and flame under controlled conditions, but does not, by itself, incorporate all factors required for fire hazard or fire risk assessment of the materials, products, or assemblies under actual fire conditions.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 Fire testing is inherently hazardous. Adequate safeguards for personnel and property shall be employed in conducting these tests.1.6 Specific information about hazards is given in Section 7.NOTE 1: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.1.7 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values stated in inch-pound units, in parentheses, are for information only and are approximations (see also IEEE/ASTM SI-10).1.8 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
