This specification covers requirements and test methods for materials, dimensions, workmanship, impact resistance, pipe stiffness, flattening, buckling, tensile strength of seam, joint systems, perforations, and markings for steel reinforced thermoplastic pipe and fittings. The steel reinforced, spirally formed thermoplastic pipes are intended for use in underground applications where soil provides support for their flexible walls. These pipes will be used for gravity flow and non-pressure applications, such as storm sewers, sanitary sewers, industrial waste applications and drainage pipes. The pipe dimensions, pipe stiffness, flattening, impact resistance, tensile strength of seam, and joint tightness shall be tested to meet the requirements prescribed.1.1 This specification covers requirements and test methods for materials, dimensions, workmanship, impact resistance, pipe stiffness, flattening, buckling, tensile strength of seam, joint systems, perforations, and markings for steel reinforced thermoplastic pipe and fittings of nominal sizes 8 in. [200 mm] through 120 in. [3000 mm]. The steel reinforced, spirally formed thermoplastic pipes governed by this standard are intended for use in underground applications where soil provides support for their flexible walls. These pipes will be used for gravity flow and non-pressure applications, such as storm sewers, sanitary sewers, industrial waste applications and drainage pipes.1.2 Units—The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents: therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 There is no similar or equivalent ISO standard.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This specification covers chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride)(CPVC) Schedule 80 pipe fittings intended for use with Iron Pipe Size (IPS) outside-diameter plastic pipe. Materials shall be tested and shall conform to the requirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, and burst pressure.1.1 This specification covers chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) (CPVC) Schedule 80 pipe fittings. Included are requirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, and burst pressure.NOTE 1: The threaded CPVC fittings covered by this specification were covered previously in Specification F437.1.2 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes, and appendixes which provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of this specification.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.4 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to the test method portion, Section 8, of this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This specification covers a group of common requirements that shall apply to steel flanges, forged fittings, valves, and parts for piping applications. If the primary melting is required it shall incorporate separate degassing or refining and may be followed by secondary melting, such as electroslag remelting or vacuum remelting. If secondary melting is employed, the heat shall be defined as all of the ingot remelted from a single primary heat. Material requiring heat treatment shall be treated as specified in the individual product specification using the following procedures such as full annealing, solution annealing, isothermal annealing, normalizing, tempering and post-weld heat treatment, stress relieving. Heat analysis shall be used to determine the percentages of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, titanium, tantalum, copper, cobalt, nitrogen, aluminum, vanadium, cerium to meet the required chemical composition. The product analysis shall be used to determine if the chemical composition shall conform to the limits of the product specified. Mechanical tests shall be performed to determine the mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile properties, and impact properties.1.1 This specification covers a group of common requirements that shall apply to steel flanges, forged fittings, valves, and parts for piping applications under any of the following individual product specifications:Title of Specification ASTM Designation Forgings, Carbon Steel, for Piping Components A105/A105MForgings, Carbon Steel, for General-Purpose Piping A181/A181MForged or Rolled Alloy-Steel Pipe Flanges, Forged A182/A182M Fittings, and Valves and Parts for High Temperature Service Forgings, Carbon and Low Alloy Steel, Requiring Notch A350/A350M Toughness Testing for Piping Components Forged or Rolled 8 and 9 % Nickel Alloy A522/A522M Steel Flanges, Fittings, Valves, and Parts for Low-Temperature Service Forgings, Carbon and Alloy Steel, for Pipe Flanges, A694/A694M Fittings, Valves, and Parts for High-Pressure Transmission Service Flanges, Forged, Carbon and Alloy Steel for Low A707/A707M Temperature Service Forgings, Carbon Steel, for Piping Components with A727/A727M Inherent Notch Toughness Forgings, Titanium-Stabilized Carbon Steel, for A836/A836M Glass-Lined Piping and Pressure Vessel Service 1.2 In case of conflict between a requirement of the individual product specification and a requirement of this general requirement specification, the requirements of the individual product specification shall prevail over those of this specification.1.3 By mutual agreement between the purchaser and the supplier, additional requirements may be specified (see Section 4.1.2). The acceptance of any such additional requirements shall be dependent on negotiations with the supplier and must be included in the order as agreed upon between the purchaser and supplier.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text and the tables, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. The inch-pound units shall apply, unless the “M” designation (SI) of the product specification is specified in the order.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
