This specification covers requirements for polyvinylidene drainage systems for corrosive applications. Requirements for material, pipe and fittings are included. Polyvinylidene fluoride includes emulsion/suspension polymerization and copolymers of vinylidene fluoride/hexafluoropropylene produced by either method. 3.1 In most of their uses, insulating liquids are continually in contact with metals that are subject to corrosion. The presence of elemental sulfur or corrosive sulfur compounds will result in deterioration of these metals and cause conductive or high resistive films to form. The extent of deterioration is dependent upon the quantity and type of corrosive agent and time and temperature factors. Detection of these undesirable impurities, even though not in terms of quantitative values, is a means for recognizing the hazard involved.3.2 Two methods are provided, one for copper corrosion and one for silver corrosion. Copper is slightly less sensitive to sulfur corrosion than silver but the results are easier to interpret and less prone to error. The silver corrosion procedure is provided especially for those users who have applications where the insulating liquid is in contact with a silver surface.1.1 This test method describes the detection of corrosive sulfur compounds (both inorganic and organic) in electrical insulating liquids.1.2 New and in-service insulating liquids may contain elemental sulfur or sulfur compounds, or both, that cause corrosion under certain conditions of use. This specification covers the requirements for non-pressure polyolefin pipe and fittings for corrosive waste drainage systems. The pipe is produced in Schedule 40 and 80 IPS sizes in two polyolefins (polyethylene and polypropylene) that shall contain suitable stabilizers and antioxidants and may contain pigments and fillers not detrimental to the pipe and fittings. The specimens shall conform to the outside diameter; wall thickness; average waterway diameter; chemical resistance to acetic acid, acetone, methyl alcohol, ammonium hydroxide, nitric acid, and sodium hydroxide; water absorption; system integrity; flattening; and impact resistance requirements. This specification covers iron-nickel-chromium and nickel alloy castings specially processed with restricted melt practices, weldability testing, and nondestructive examination (NDE) requirements for use in pressure retaining parts with corrosive service environments. This guide covers standard specification for straight seam or spinal seam electric-fusion-welded, light-wall, austenitic chromium-nickel alloy steel pipe for corrosive or high-temperature service. 5.1 The metal loss from corrosion is directly related to the increase in electrical resistance of the target due to the decrease in conductive cross-sectional area.5.2 The relationship between resistance increase of metallic targets used in this test method and the amount of metal loss as reported by a uniform loss in thickness has not been determined.5.3 This test method is used to determine the corrosive effect of combustion products from burning electrical insulations or coverings or their constituent materials or components. Corrosion is determined by the reduction of thickness of the metal on standardized targets, as measured by electrical resistance. This specification covers five grades of as-welded, wrought austenitic stainless steel fittings for low-pressure piping and for low and moderate temperatures and general corrosive service. The fittings shall be made from flat-rolled steel which shall be in the solution annealed condition. The fittings shall be formed by a hot or cold process and shall be welded by a shielded welding process with or without the addition of filler metal. Heat analysis and product analysis shall be performed where in the steel fittings shall conform to the required chemical compositions of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, titanium, columbium, tantalum, and nitrogen. This specification covers heat-treated wrought carbon steel piping fittings with lowered carbon content of seamless and electric fusion-welded construction for low-temperature and corrosive service applications. These fittings are for use in pressure components where inherent notch toughness and optimum sulfide-cracking resistance are required, such as oil and gas industry piping and distribution systems. The materials shall be manufactured by forging and shaping methods which involves hammering, pressing, piercing, extruding, upsetting, rolling, bending, fusion welding, machining, or by a combination of these operations. Fittings shall be heat treated by normalizing, quenching, and tempering or stress-relieving.
