This specification covers the minimum requirements for bonding compounds used in adhering interior gypsum plasters to structurally sound surfaces. The bonding compound should be a tinted film-forming material suitable for application by brush, roller, and spray. It shall have a non-oxidizing, non-toxic, and non-flammable composition, and have a smooth, homogeneous, and flexible consistency with no settling of the solids. It shall also be free of foreign matter, and shall not be noticeably affected by mild acid or alkali. The apparatus needed for the preparation of the compound are moist cabinet, forced drift type oven, freezer, balance, timing device, tamper, steel straight edge, metal-bladed spatula, paint brush, briquet testing machine, briquet molds, divider, and clips. Specimens shall be sampled, tested, and conform accordingly to the following performance requirements: bonding capability; degradation; high temperature stability; freeze-thaw stability, and bond strength.1.1 This specification covers minimum requirements for bonding compounds for adhering interior gypsum plaster to structurally sound surfaces.1.2 This specification also covers test methods for determining performance requirements and physical properties.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.4 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to the test methods described in this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

3.1 An accelerated test for determining the resistance of interior coatings to mold growth is useful in estimating the performance of coatings designed for use in interior environments that promote mold growth and in evaluating compounds that may inhibit such growth and the aggregate levels for their use (see also Note 1).3.2 This test method should preferably be used by persons who have had basic microbiological training.1.1 This test method describes the use of an environmental chamber and operating conditions to evaluate the relative resistance of interior coatings to surface fungal growth in a severe interior environment during a 4-week period.1.2 This test method can be used to evaluate the comparative resistance of interior coatings to accelerated mold growth. Performance at a certain rating does not imply any specific period of time for a fungal free coating. However, a better rated coating nearly always performs better in actual end use.NOTE 1: This test method is intended for the accelerated evaluation of an interior coatings’ resistance to fungal defacement. Use of this test method for evaluating exterior coatings’ performance has not been validated, nor have the limitations for such use been determined. If this test method is to be used for the testing of an exterior coating system, a precautionary statement regarding interpretation of results as being outside of the scope of this test method must be included in the test report. Any accelerated weathering (leaching, weathering machine exposure, etc.) should be reported and should also bear reference to the fact that it is beyond the current scope of this test method.1.3 Temperature and humidity must be effectively controlled within the relatively narrow limits specified in order for the chamber to function reproducibly during the short test period. Severity and rate of mold growth on a film is a function of the moisture content of both the film and the substrate. A relative humidity of >93 % at a temperature of 32.5 ± 1 °C (90 ± 2 °F ) is necessary to initiate and maintain mold growth and for test panels to develop rapidly and maintain an adequate moisture level to support mold growth.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 A waterproofing membrane should maintain its watertight integrity for the life of the building in a continuously or intermittently moist environment and may be subject to continuous or intermittent hydrostatic pressure. It should resist chemicals that can harm the membrane and root growth. This guide lists minimum performance attributes required of waterproofing membranes applied to below-grade walls. Products not previously used as waterproofing membrane materials require additional tests beyond the scope of this guide. This guide is not intended for use on in-service waterproofing materials. Waterproofing membranes and other components should conform to ASTM product standards, if available.4.2 Limitations—Prior to use and in service, waterproofing may be exposed to a variety of conditions so no one test will provide evaluations related to performance for all exposures. Neither will all tests be necessary in all evaluations for specific exposures.1.1 This guide lists test methods intended to establish a minimum level of acceptable performance attributes for reinforced or laminated waterproofing membranes applied to below-grade walls.1.2 This guide does not include cementitious, integral, or bentonite waterproofing systems.1.3 This guide does not include membranes applied under slabs on grade or on suspended slabs below grade or applied to soil retaining systems, water containment structures, or tunnels.1.4 It is not possible to establish a precise correlation between laboratory tests on waterproofing membranes and performance attributes after installation due to variations in chemicals in the soil, design, material, and installation.1.5 The values stated in either inch-pound or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the standard.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

3.1 The maximum length and minimum diameter of the pipe shall be determined by the capacity of the blast equipment used.3.2 This guide is recommended for removing mill scale, rust scale, paints, zincs, and oxides.1.1 This guide covers metallic abrasive blasting to descale the interior of carbon steel pipe.1.2 This guide is recommended for use in conjunction with an abrasive reclamation system.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to inch-pound units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.

4.1 Each abuse/impact property of abuse resistant wall panels is divided into three classification levels. The three levels of classification are: Level I, Level II, and Level III, with Level I representing the lowest rating for any given property. The test methods specified are utilized to establish the abuse-resistance classification of an abuse resistant wall panel. Each classification level requires a minimum overall specified performance. Any classified abuse resistant wall panel can be used at a classification level which is rated lower than the highest level qualified.1.1 This standard establishes classifications of abuse resistance based on the abrasion resistance and impact resistance performance of nondecorated interior gypsum panel products and fiber-reinforced cement panels (abuse resistant wall panels).1.1.1 This standard is a method of classifying gypsum panel product performance and is not intended to classify systems for abuse resistance.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound and SI (metric) units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system shall be used independent of the other. Values from the two systems shall not be combined.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This test method describes a procedure for measuring the interior pore volume and the apparent pore diameter distribution of porous poly(vinyl chloride) resins. The measurements are made by forcing mercury under increasing pressure through a graduated penetrometer into the open pores of the resin samples. The volume of mercury forced into the pores is defined from the change of the mercury volume in the penetrometer; the apparent pore diameter distribution can be defined from incremental volume changes with increasing pressure. 1.2 Warning-This standard includes the use of an OSHA-designated hazardous chemical (Mercury). For specific hazard information and guidance relative to use, consult the health and safety documents provided by the supplier, for example, the material safety data sheet. 1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Note 1-There are no ISO standards covering the primary subject matter of this test method.
