This standard specifies the safety requirements for lithium ion cells and batteries used in portable electronic equipments.
This standard is applicable to the lithium ion cells and batteries used in portable electronic equipments (hereinafter referred to as the cells and batteries).The examples of the portable electronic equipments in this standard are as follows:
a)　portable office equipments: laptop, PDA, etc.
b)　mobile communication equipments: mobile phones, cordless telephones, Bluetooth headsets, intercom, etc.
c)　portable audio/video equipments: portable TV, portable DVD players, MP3/MP4 players, cameras, video cameras, voice recorders, etc.
d)　other portable equipments: electronic navigations, digital photo frames, game consoles, E-book,etc.
Above examples do not include the list of all portable electronic equipments, other unlisted equipments may be also in the scope of this standard.
